I went to a meeting about this in my hometown once, it was just a bunch of boomers screaming "we like peace and quiet! We like it so much that we are willing to drive a half hour for everything!" Apparently these hum very loudly or something...
Renewable energy production could be a major earner for places like this but they don't want money, they want to be mad about being poor.

I've been asking this for 20 years.

It's because a lot of Americans are unwilling or unable to accept that real life isn't a Western.

Trump is not the problem.
The Republican scum in congress are not the problem.
The Republican voting base *IS* the problem. And the fact that our legacy media has categorically refused to speak honestly about this problem, much less investigate how they got this way, is the other problem.

In an interview with @whitneycwimbish.bsky.social, Blas Nuñez-Neto wouldn't tell us his clients, but did say we should remember that ICE agents are people too. (Can't believe this quote below)

There's no way the rest of the world is going to trust us if we're going to pivot between being Leader of the Free World and the Russia of the West every 4 years based on how 150,000 people in Bucks County, PA feel about the price of eggs. This is what Americans need to understand most.
i do think even a lot of otherwise well-informed Americans really do not understand just how much Trump has already mutilated our global reputation and global trust.

it will take a long time and many acts of extreme contrition on our part to rebuild this.
I swear everything I see out of the US is "wait until the midterms. We'll get a majority back and everything will return to normal"

I don't think they're aware of the damage that's been done

There’s been a lot of petty debate over this on railway preservation news. Honestly, I think this is a great idea to ensure there is not another embarrassing gap where Steamtown has no operating, well…Steam!

• Red State Florida has 1.6 M undocumented immigrants

• Blue State Minnesota has 130,000.

And yet only Minnesota is being occupied by masked thugs over "immigration."

It's *not* about immigration.

I've heard rumors that Philadelphia is next for the ICE invasion after Minneapolis.
Maybe I'm wrong, but
1) More than 11% of all ICE agents are in Minneapolis, and they've utterly failed to pacify the city.
2) Philly is 5x the size of Minneapolis.
3) "Minnesota nice" is a thing. We don't have that.

There’s many zines and online resources that go into what de-arresting is, so you can avoid doing it. Just FYI!

TLDR: Europe owns a lot out of our debt and the ability to do business in Europe is crucial to US-based companies. If they call in that debt and start restricting or sanctioning us, we enter a second Great Depression in effect.

Good thread.
