Tom, on his way to the camps: “You guys were building offline networks to support and protect each other?”

What did he think these events were about, if not exactly what he's saying?
What happened to the leaders of Ferguson's movement?
(six of them died under mysterious circumstances)

It was live theatre, so I can’t link to a recording, but I saw a production of Angels in America where the way Roy Cohn, at the moment of his death, said the word, “Oh,” just that one word, absolutely destroyed me. An entire monologue of character transformation in one word.
what’s your favorite line delivery

It's a great cosmic joke that neurodivergence both runs in families and gets diagnosed based on parent reports. I was diagnosed at 30 because a man who has eaten potatoes every day for 57 years and a woman who collects loose buttons decided I was a perfectly normal child.

@dreamtimedrinne.bsky.social was the one who introduced me to this idea and, wow, it makes GenX’s politics make a lot of sense.
A few weeks ago I was talking politics with a local, highly straight, bartender.

All the sudden he said: “Well, I think a big part of the problem is that so many of the people who would’ve been our progressive leaders died of AIDS & can’t help us now.”

And I’ve thought about that every day since.

I had a friend who did that during Khans of Tarkir; he is why our local meta played KTK as a two-color format.
You’re not supposed to have 12 lands at the end of pack 1, Abe!
i just want to spend all of pack one drafting lands and packs two and three drafting every gold card i see.

i'm a simple person with simple needs.

I love that he thinks it’s an IQ test.
He’s doing “I aced it” on the “very advanced mental acuity” test again.

Alice was a fierce advocate for Gazans, and I agree with Alex that she would have been glad to see donations to eSIMs for Gaza:

One way I have found to mourn someone is to set up a monthly sustaining donation to a mutual aid effort they cared about. If you can join me in honoring Alice Wong, @sfdirewolf.bsky.social with a sustaining donation today, please do. Thank you Alice, and I will not let the bastards grind me down.

New followers: this account will switch back to posting about Magic the Gathering after the AtLA prerelease this afternoon. Last few months of posts are not representative of my usual topics.
RNG: Hi Melinoë, I see you’re running naked, would you like bones, or ashes?
Me: I would like a boon. I would like an aunt or uncle to give me lightning or something like that.
RNG: Nope, bones and ashes. You could flip one to nectar for a free pom.
Me: To level up what?
RNG: I don’t like your tone.

Another day, another attempt at tThe Judgement Run.
I’ve been heartbreakingly close to a clear Ty twice. Not anything left I need to level up or anything, it’s just a git gud situation.

I was just saying to my friends, since they banned cell phones at school, news-based memes are in their self-referential derivative phase before I see the original story so I’m lost.
I told myself I wasn’t going to stay plugged in like in Trump 1, but that turns out to be annoying, too.
Boy I sure did scroll all the way back to where I went to bed last night and not once did I see the origin of the thing everyone is vaguely joking about

Trump sucking Clinton?? I think?? Other way around? How much hyperbole is that. Where are we on the fanfic-to-alleged-fact gradient here. idk

I still have my Uril. I never play it myself. It’s my loaner deck for new players without their own, because it is easy to pilot and hits hard with low effort. (And it’s fun for new players to crack an old-border fetchland and find a land with stripes in the text box.)
2nd Commander deck I ever made and still my favorite. He just wants to give out nice big hugs

Trying to clear with a Judgement run to finish that prophecy about clearing with all the cards, and this sucks. (Getting cards switched on in the middle of the run doesn’t count, you have to start with them).

This was supposed to say 9-to-5 starring Dolly Parton.
I was once suspended from Facebook for a week for responding to a post about Dolly Parton with a synopsis of the plot of the movie.
The account owner of @sarahkendzior.bsky.social was suspended for 72 hours for expressing a desire to shoot the author of an article. The post, made 11/10, stated: "I want to shoot the author of this article just to watch him die." 1/2

I can’t believe they thought “Our mod team is Amelia Bedelia and we support them 200%” was an acceptable and reasonable explanation

This metaphor rocks so hard.
It's like having your B button be jump and your A button being attack. You've had to live with it and suck it up, but you know it's wrong and are truly unhappy with it. Then you discover button mapping, letting you to fix things. Suddenly your sorrow turns to elation as things finally feel right.

That is not how I learned the origin of “ballpark” as an idiom. It’s decades older:
Team owners used to lie to sports reporters about attendance numbers, so a “ballpark figure” came to mean an approximate, but not precise amount.
Perhaps “in the ballpark” came later, as a derivation of the idiom.
realized i didn't know the origins of "in the ballpark" meaning "approximately correct" and once again had it reaffirmed that you will never regret looking up the etymology of a word
