The fact that they kool aid man’d out of the detention center is pretty funny. But clearly this place is dangerously not up to code or in compliance with basic human rights and that’s part of why they’ve been reluctant to allow inspections. Geo group makes billions and still cuts these corners.
OMG. According to two members of Congress that just conducted an inspection and confirmed horrible conditions at the ICE detention center where unrest led to 4 people escaping, apparently people were able to escape because an EXTERIOR WALL was made of drywall and wire mesh!

if you find yourself reluctant to support the guy at Columbia because you find some of the politics he espoused distasteful or even abhorrent, you should know that this is exactly the reaction that they hoped for in choosing him as a target for unlawful detention based on political speech.

also shit like this is a reminder why flight attendant's unions have the power to collapse this country. they are critical first responders. nothing moves without them and when shit goes wrong they save so many lives.
After that plane literally flipped upside down after smashing into the runway and 100% of people survived, I hope every person who ever said “what’s even the point of seatbelts on a plane” feels like a real doof.

Unreal. The US government is dumping Asian and African families and children in random countries that they have no connection to. Dumping, not "deporting." Deportation implies the return of a person to their home country. This is treating people like toxic waste.

Read the whole thread it's great, BUT ALSO if your library is in RI, in order to serve book recommendations online, Ocean State Libraries DOES track borrowing history by default at the moment. Turn that off via the website. You don't need algorithmic recommendations that bad
When the Patriot Act was passed, libraries got requests for patrons’ borrowing history. We were prohibited from disclosing those requests.
We deleted and shredded those records and stopped tracking reading history for that reason.
