The United States could have great things like this. But we like to spend our money on kidnapping people and trafficking them to concentration camps instead. #Priorities

23andMe declared bankruptcy and the company is gonna be sold off for parts. That includes your DNA information and the only amount of control you have is to delete your info immediately. It’s very simple to do.

Classic Trump: he lies & feigns ignorance and then reporters allow him to change the topic. No one else is given this leeway. Imagine if everytime Biden had been asked about Hunter he’d said ‘Sorry, who? I know nothing about him. First time I’m hearing about any of this. Next question?”
Trump on his cabinet members using Signal to text war plans to a reporter: "I don't know anything about it. I'm not a big fan of The Atlantic. To be it's a magazine that's going out of business. But I know nothing about it. You're saying that they had what?"

Every single Democrat in Congress should be demanding the resignation of Waltz and Hegseth. Every single one.

This is a massive scandal. There should be a serious price to pay.

AND THERE IS ZERO DOWNSIDE FOR EVEN THE MOST SCAREDY-CAT CONGRESSPERSON.

Correct. This is a President of the United States declaring himself a dictator.

And instead of Americans understanding that we’re now under imminent threat of martial law and tyranny, we’ll get a month of think pieces about what the President of the United States meant by his UNAMBIGUOUS statement.
This is fascism.

Statement from Senator Elizabeth Warren:

“Vought is giving big banks and giant corporations the green light to scam families. The CFPB has returned over $21 billion to families cheated by Wall Street. Republicans have failed to gut it in Congress and in the courts. They will fail again.”
Russell Vought, Acting Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, has sent an email to staff telling them to stop working.

You must understand that in the financial services industry—not only the big banks, but also the tech platforms that want to replace the big banks—there is no greater danger than a federal agency empowered to tell them, “no, you can’t steal from your customers, actually”
The Trump-Musk Presidency is killing the CFPB
Just as Elon Musk's X pushes into financial services, the agency responsible for protecting citizens from such companies is under threat.

My mentions are filled with people insisting Senate Democrats are powerless.

They’re not. They can throw up roadblocks by denying unanimous consent, forcing quorum calls, using holds and filibusters, etc

It’s so easy to figure out even a dimwit like Tuberville managed to pull it off.
"Oh, but whatever could the Senate Minority Leader do to gum up the works? There's nothing he could possibly do!"

Trump did a Friday Night Massacre, firing 15 inspectors general, completely ignoring the law that prevents him from doing this, essentially asserting monarchical authority over the government. Total contempt for democracy. Here is how the Times is covering it

At the inauguration, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wore a distinctive collar adorned with cowrie shells, which are believed to offer protection from evil in African traditions.

This choice mirrors the late Justice Ginsburg’s practice of using collars to convey a message.

It’s now been over 24 hours since Trump was sworn in.

Instead of honoring his campaign promises to focus on bringing down costs, he’s doubling down on revenge, division, and cruelty. He’s cozying up to billionaires. And he’s showing us what we can expect for the next 4 years.
