When Trump rants about "free speech," what he really means is that he wants to censor anyone who points out his lies.

European (and others) who publish factual information about hate groups to counteract their propaganda are being banned from entering the USA.

In the US, he is attacking news orgs.

/5 I’m old, and fat, and slow, and live a mostly complacent and banal life, so maybe it’s more appropriate to put it less dramatically: I am prepared to accept substantial unpleasantness and hardship rather than submit to fascism.

The fact that Matthew Dowd lost his job for pointing out Charlie Kirk’s hate speech, while Brian Kilmeade openly suggests we should euthanize the homeless and there is zero outrage, shows exactly what is terribly wrong with today’s political mainstream media.

MAGA screamed for years about the weaponization of government, only for Trump to take a whole-of-government approach to prosecuting a political opponent based on allegations that are completely absurd. I'm not sure what it will take for Dems to stop fetishizing bipartisanship and actually hit hard.
Important: Note that Trump just posted documents plainly given to him by administration agencies as part of his quest to show Schiff merits prosecution. This is an open flaunting of the use of agencies to gin up pretexts for prosecuting enemies. (cc @donmoyn.bsky.social @emptywheel.bsky.social)

It's even worse than this! "No one can be deprived of liberty without due process of law" goes back to Runnymede, far predating the United States. (and further: the barons who wrote the Magna Carta also believed they were merely enshrining in writing rules that already existed since time immemorial)
The U.S. is 250 years old. We should not have to constantly relitigate incredibly basic shit like “everyone is entitled to due process” or “presidents must obey court orders” like these are new or unsettled questions.

Update: the Trump administration has proposed cutting the National Park System by $900 million, about one third of its budget.
Please read/share if you love your national parks!
