That North America has all but given up trying to mitigate climate change while China roars ahead with clean energy is a self-own of historical proportions. Oil and gas are the 20th century's fuel, and the 20th century is over. #climatecrisis

ANALYSIS | The rise of the electrostate: By dominating clean energy, China is leading on climate action | CBC News
China’s massive lead in clean technologies has shifted the climate fight from one of big pledges and international diplomacy toward a technological revolution in cheaper energy, analysts say.

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

1. I hate to see good people wasting their time and energy. And there’s perhaps no greater waste of time and energy than seeking to change the trajectory of the human population. It’s not just futile, but also a massive distraction from things we CAN change. This thread seeks to explain why. 🧵1/12

Pardon power is not the problem. More people should be freed from this vicious system. Corruption and organized crime as governance are the problem. Shady pardons are just one symptom of the much larger clusterfuck we're in. If you zoom in too much on any detail as "the problem," you lose the plot.

A massive problem today is the uneven distribution of shame. Some of us are running dedicated on-site shame servers 24/7 while others have no access to shame at all, even though they desperately need it. What we need to do is put shame in the cloud

The president has illegally declared war to stop fentanyl trafficking from a country that does not traffic that drug, claiming its leader is trafficking drugs himself, the day after pardoning a former leader of a country who is a convicted drug trafficker.

A thread on the MOU.

MOST IMPORTANT: Carney's move signals to the rest of Canada, and the world, that it's OK to keep building more fossil fuel projects.
Other countries will use this to justify doing the same.

I so agree with this. I am so concerned that Canada, too, is focused on the wealthy class. To the detriment of everyday Canadians. We need a country and government that cares about everyone. Everyone.
The PM is talking about nation-building. We need to be talking about being a nation where people aren't dependent on food banks and are able to live in affordable homes.
A nation where people are not left behind.
This is my latest.

ALL ROAD USERS.

And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all.

For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them.

The most insanely frustrating thing about the #ClimateCrisis is how the breakthrough we so clearly need isn’t technological. It’s just a collective willingness, a determination even, to change in ways that would clearly be SO MUCH BETTER than the clear and obvious consequences of NOT changing.
