Morals aside, it plainly does not work! A decade of pandering to reactionaries has not only made the country noticeably worse, the people it's supposed to appeal to are still miserable and not even slightly grateful for all the pandering they've gotten

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

Are you an immigrant? Because I am, and Zack is the only party leader actually defending migrants and refugees rather than using us as scapegoats. He was emphasising the tough reality of care work, and anyone listening in good faith knows what he meant. Calling him classist is a reach.
