Yes. If someone asked me why I think the Obama Coalition went off the rails some time in 2014, this would be my short and sweet explanation why.

Donald Trump promised that if elected he would end this war in 24 hours.

That was *his* promise.

On January 21, every media outlet, opposition politician, and voter better be asking if he’s done it.
US President-elect Donald Trump’s Russia-Ukraine war deadline math is getting increasingly fuzzy.

Gone is the notion of ending the war in 24 hours — he’s now talking months.

Brussels Playbook has more.

This made me chortle.
Reading about the rise of Nazism in 1930s Germany? This sheet pan Black Forest cake will make you feel like you were there.

More like this, please.
Sen Chris Murphy is urging Ds to stop fluffing RFK. As he told me:

"If we just accept that RFK is a mainstream nominee when he just finished telling us that maybe Covid was a genetically engineered virus...we’re cooked if that all of a sudden is normal."

Folks: please be diligent about not disseminating Ann Telnaes' cartoon in a way that she's not getting the clicks on it (until she says differently). Her IP matters now more than ever.

Make it go viral but make sure she benefits.

Not looking to politicize what happened in New Orleans in any capacity, however the lead in the investigation is none other than the outstanding men and women of the FBI. The same organization that Kash Patel is nominated to lead and wants to abolish. Think about that for a moment.

You had a good run, @latimes.com. Sorry you’re not a real newspaper anymore.
LA Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong says his bias meter will use an A.I. patent called the “Reasoning Engine.”

“The meter will be displayed atop a piece of writing to tell readers where it ranks on a scale that will range from ‘far left’ to ‘far right.’”

Look bringing back polio sounds bad. But it’s a small price to pay to get rid of pronouns in email signatures and black women in star wars.

Sadly
I have no good words for Director Wray.

This is a spineless and cowardly move that undercut fifty years of statutory reform at fhe Bureau.

He just guaranteed the position will be political going forward. The Watergate reforms are dead.

The debate over the pardon reminds us that especially in the last decade Democrats have been mired in a debate that has at least some parallels to "respectability politics" discourse in the African-American community. Democrats must manage some generally unachievable level of purity.

Yep. Biden, wanting to Uphold the Norms, agreed to keep on a Trump-appointed prosecutor who was probing his son. Created a special counsel to probe his own post-VP document retention. Kept on Durham so he could finish a Trump-ordered probe of 2016.

What did he get? Nothing. So here he goes.

Yup
Harris took more shit from the left for campaigning for Liz Cheney without conceding anything to her on policy than Trump took from the right for abandoning the idea of federal abortion restrictions.

Harder to win when the team doesn’t really want it.

Yes, I’m disappointed in Merrick Garland, Jack Smith, & SCOTUS. But mostly I’m disappointed in the 76 million Americans who said “no big deal” and voted for a candidate who, just 4yrs ago, lost an election, refused to concede, and then actually committed crimes trying to overthrow that election.
