Yesterday many thousands of federal employees were terminated. This is a Reddit thread for federal employees that got laid off.

I hereby create a community of people who love, respect, and admire boglands. They are mysterious, beautiful, and powerful to ecology, archaeology and climate. Yet these systems continue to be misunderstood and threatened. Who wants to join my bog fan club? Please share - bogs need friends right now

I'm obviously worried about the evil things Trump and Elon have said they will do, but the crash reminds me to be worried of what I think of "death by jank." these people are far from being as smart as they think they are and their incompetence is going to kill people

This is a good sign: 70% of Nature poll respondents use platform, roughly 6,000 readers answered our poll, with many declaring that Bluesky was nicer, kinder and less antagonistic to science than X.

I don’t want to hear one word about the Target boycott from ppl
who stopped masking. Y’all talking about folks won’t suffer the smallest inconvenience for the collective but you can’t put a mask on your face because it might make you unpopular lol

The threat of ICE has tons of people on high alert, the result is claims of ICE seen without firm or specific info people can actually use — & sometimes, no ICE at all.

It’s never “ICE spotted in Queens,” but “4 SUVs labeled DHS seen parked on 57th & 59th in Maspeth at 2:34pm.”

Be specific!

Allow yourself to find some joy today and in the days ahead.

Turn off your devices. Find beauty in small things in unexpected places. Go outside. Feel the sun on your skin. Feel the cold on it too.

Breathe.

One solid way you can fight back today & everyday is to look out for your neighbor, & not just in theory. If you’re in LA, someone in your building probably needs a mask. Someone living outside probably needs a meal. That person being stopped by the cops needs someone to record what’s happening.
The way forward is the same as it’s always been - organize your neighborhood, your household, your workplace. Nobody is coming to save us except ourselves. Look out for one another.

Peat in bogs not bags. Who agrees?
Why the big smile? Because I am holding something we take for granted but is pretty miraculous. Peat is organic matter that boldly defies decomposition, suspended in between life and death. As a result, it stockpiles carbon from the atmosphere. Peat belongs in bogs not bags. Pass it on.
