Tory MP: “We’re tethered to the mast of Brexit and when it goes wrong, we’re screwed. They all know it. All Labour have to do is hedge their bets. When the public realize they’ve been sold a pup they’ll turn on the party”.

So why did Starmer join the cult?

The right wing elite are ruthless in protecting their own and getting what they want.
They wanted Johnson. (And what a disaster that was for us).
Now they want Farage. (Would be an off the scale catastrophe for the country).
Time we woke up to the betrayal.

The Confidence Trick That Put Boris Johnson Into Power Is Now Being Used on Nigel Farage
The same people who convinced the British public to back a catastrophic Boris Johnson premiership are now pulling the same trick again with Nigel Farage

Exactly

“I did say the same sort of thing as Gill that landed him in prison for 10 years, but I didn’t take Russian money* for it. I said it because that is what I believe” shouldn’t be the sort of defence Farage and ReFuk think it is.

Whispers “*except the money for my Russian TV appearances.”
Farage can now be easily boxed in to a corner where his only ‘defence’ becomes: “Yes I spouted Kremlin propaganda & Putin worship but, unlike Nathan Gill, I didn’t need bribes to do it.”
It is, once again, a question of whether interviewers have the temerity to shut down his whining obfuscations.

Newmarket MP Matt Hancock gave a £37bn Covid testing contract to Jockey Club director Dido Harding, who subcontracted it to Grand National sponsor Randox, employer of Tory MP Owen Paterson, whose late wife chaired Aintree racecourse. That's how the Tories handled the pandemic.

I can't believe nobody thinks Farage is an enemy of the state after Gill sentencing.

Together with Boris Johnson, I am pretty sure that the Russians have a firm grip on UK politics.

Ukraine is on the brink of an historic betrayal by Trump to Putin.

Keir Starmer must bring our European allies together to back Zelensky, starting by seizing frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.

This is a depressing thread for a Friday afternoon but it illustrates very clearly that Reform UK voters are out of step with the rest of Britain, and experiencing equality as oppression.

This is Farage's tribe. Trump too.
It's Friday afternoon, so who wouldn't want to enter the weekend with one more round of my patented bubble plots of British politics? In this final (one hopes) of my mini-series I look at who the 'odd ones out' of British politics are. Who is 'out of touch' with the rest of the public. Let's see 1/n

Fantastic 👏 LibDems finally act on Brexit.

If Labour won’t lead, others will.

A customs union vote forces truth into Parliament:

Fixing Brexit fixes

🛠️ investment

This is first real pressure on Starmer from pro-EU side.

In 2014 Nigel Farage and his right-hand man Nathan Gill made very similar speeches in the European Parliament parroting Kremlin talking points.

Yet only one of them is going to prison.

And it’s not Farage.

“Starmer’s government has repeatedly said it does not want to join a customs union with the EU, saying it was a red line.”

Why?

Brexit is costing us 6-8% of GDP, and Reeves has no idea how to plug that vast gap because raising tax is a red line, too.

The black hole in Durham County Council’s budget has grown by £11.1mn in the past two months under the control of Reform UK.

Its cabinet has been forced to approve a £10mn list of cuts.

But the measures will still leave the county council with a deficit of £72mn over the coming four years
