Climate, COVID & authoritarianism are existential threats to our way of life. Vote Green, fight anyone who believes they are inherently better than anyone else. Free Palestine, Trans rights are human rights and FUND COVID RESEARCH

It is not easy being COVID cautious. It's crap not joining in social events. It isn't enjoyable being the only person masking. It is tough keeping quiet when being patronised by people with zero knowledge. It is all EXHAUSTING. Solidarity to everyone prepared to listen to science & put others first
A simple economic doctrine, held by a handful of wealthy people, going back to the 60s is that any $ spent, in any way, by any govt, is a $ that could be profit for them. Mix with politicians being greedy, stupid + easily & cheaply bought and you understand everything going on today.

UK people - the ICE shooting in the news has been happening every day, it's only suddenly news here because they shot a white woman on video. Both labour and Tories are talking about creating similar militias. It creates chaos. Exploiting chaos is how wealth is grown. It's not about immigration.

I see the BBC doesn't think the US president saying international law is irrelevant and he can do whatever he wants bound only by his "own morality", merits even a footnote item.

I don't understand why Venezuela is now under US control. If Russia kidnapped Zelenski, Ukraine would still defend itself surely. It's like the US said, "btw we've conquered your country", and Venezuela has just said OK? Or the world's media is just telling them it's all over? Can anyone explain?
January 4, 2026 at 8:36 PM
UK readers - Venezuela just got invaded because the GOP is a front for the fossil fuel industry. Reform is almost entirely funded by oil and gas companies, labour takes huge donations. Yes Starmer is pathetic and weak, but even if he wasn't, he's bought and paid for. This crap is coming our way

It is undemocratic to suggest that people should have to know what they are voting for.

It's no wonder we're in such a mess

There are 2 approaches to testing. 1) Test because you've been asked to, 2) test because you don't want to infect those you care for. If you begrudgingly do 1), this causes hurt, you may not believe COVID is serious but why can't you respect those you're supposed to care about

Very happy Christmas to everyone trying to not let selfish family members make them feel like they are causing problems by asking for their health to be considered.
December 24, 2025 at 3:57 PM
We have to smile and say nothing when friends say "there's nothing you can do if you're ill you just have to get on with it", but if we said "well you could not infect other people" we'd be the arsehole apparently

Great exchange with my mum today.
Me: Would 27th be good for us (incl her grandchildren) to come for lunch?
Mum: would you ask us to test?
Me: is that a problem
Mum: Yes

No abbreviation, this is the exact exchange. Not much you can say.

You can't say you think Trump and Farage are clearly Russian puppets without people laughing as if you didn't mean it seriously. All I would say is, everything single thing they do, and, Occam's razor. Break up the EU and disband NATO, sure, seems like a valid US priority

The UK media still enacting fake outrage at farages clear racism. Genuinely hard to tell if they are just all too dumb to realise this helps him, or are doing it deliberately because it helps him

My wife had a hospital appt today & took the opportunity to get a COVID booster. Nurse informed her the data does not support giving the vaccine to non immune compromised people, as people get infected we develop herd immunity.

So that's good to know

Anyone can be born trans, anyone can become disabled, anyone can become homeless, we don't choose where we are born or what colour skin we're born with. When did everyone lose their humanity, how have we let caring for others become a bad thing.
December 3, 2025 at 11:33 PM
This is why we are never going to 'get through' to friends and family about COVID danger. The problem is that either we are anxious and irrationally afraid to live a normal life - or they are willing to sacrifice the health of their children / grandchildren to avoid facing reality

To all the people saying Johnson should be prosecuted over preventable COVID deaths - YOU ARE DOING EXACTLY WHAT HE DID, saying it's fine now, nothing to worry about. As wrong now as then, as dangerous now as then, same blood on your hands as on his.
November 23, 2025 at 9:48 PM
You never see the question asked the other way around - why would you NOT wear a mask on public transport where you don't know anyone? That's because the only two possible answers are "I'm too worried about what other people might think", or, "I don't like thinking about COVID", & both are pathetic.

NEW: Epstein survivors release the most powerful PSA I have ever seen.

Make this go viral so every member of the House of Representatives sees it.

To the generally decent people on here; if there was a new infection that could disable your kids/grandkids, that if you understood you could protect them from and it was clearly understood, you want to learn about it right? Well there is, you could and you refuse to. Please reflect.

In business you used to succeed by being better than the competition, offering better product, giving better service. These days, the company gets sold to a private equity fund who buy all the competitors, hike prices, don't care about service. In politics ....... the exact same thing has happened

I'm genuinely confused. I get 'attack the BBC for right wing bias to deflect from the obvious extreme right wing bias'. But, right wing actually trying to destroy it, when it is their biggest weapon, I don't understand

Just heard someone say, "I'm a parent, there's nothing I wouldn't do for my children". This is what I find so hard about COVID, knowing that everyone I know actually has a very low threshold on this yardstick. Test before meeting up? Listen to or read about the known risk? Not visit them if unwell?

BBC today "The watermelon has become a symbol for solidarity with Palestinians due to its colours, which are similar to those of the Palestinian flag"

Israel banned anything over 10" be grown as it interfered with sniper lines of fire

Citrus & olive groves bulldozed, watermelon is all that's left
