Complacency and denialism at the root. Abbott “We knew there was a flash flood warning,” Gov. Greg Abbott said at a press conference on Tuesday. “No one would know that would be a 30-foot-high tsunami-ball of water." Of course they didn’t. That’s why they sent out urgent warnings but nobody obeyed.

Update: At this morning’s daily meeting, FEMA Acting Administrator Richardson spoke briefly only to say he has an upcoming trip to…Peru. No mention of Texas.
Staff at FEMA haven't received any internal communications from the agency or department leadership since the deadly floods in Texas, which is unheard of in the wake of a major disaster.

If a parent is “severely mentally ill and untreated” it’s one thing, but if said parent was just depresssed on anti-depressants, for the court to order therapy seems a bit of an over reach as well as unconstitutional , given the fact said parent has willingly seeked treatment.
