This conversation reminds me of the dress meme. If you interpret ChatGPT as the underlying LLM, then of course it's not a search engine. If you read it as the product that OpenAI sells you for $20 a month, then yes it includes a search engine (and other capabilities).
This is one of the most-shared posts on Bluesky in the past day and it's just completely false. You might think ChatGPT is a *bad* search engine, or prefer another search engine. But it has had integrated web search since last year.

Governor Ferguson is working for us, the people of Washington State. If like me you've been very disappointed in his first 100 days, especially his lack of support for progressive taxation, let him know!
He's *your* employee, of course you can (and should!) contact him and let him know what you think of his first 100 days and your support of an income tax! governor.wa.gov/contacting-g...

It's been proven again and again that early education pays for itself multiple times. It's an investment we absolutely need to make here in Washington as federal funds are drying up. Cutting programs like this is just unfathomable.

Dune and Dune II are among the very first PC games I ever played many, many moons ago. I still love them and it's a very cool homage from the @duneawakening.com devs to incorporate both excellent soundtracks into their game. duneawakening.com/en/the-class...

If only there was a procedural tool to force them to join you at the negotiation table... 🤔
The Senate Democratic Caucus was unified on a ‘clean’ one-month CR that would have kept the government open and given Congress time to negotiate bipartisan legislation. I’m disappointed that our Republican colleagues wouldn’t join us in that effort.

If he barely scraped together 8 votes and almost 40 Dem senators vote no on the CR, on such a consequential vote, the only logical next step would be to move to replace him as Minority Leader. @murray.senate.gov would make a great leader who actually does meet the moment.
A shutdown would give Donald Trump the keys to the city, state, and country.

Musk has said he wants a shutdown, and reporting has shown he is already making plans to use the shutdown to expedite his destruction of key government programs and services.

Every single person from @team18f.bsky.social I've had the chance to meet was kind, smart and dedicated to public service. I'm not surprised they led the pushback against Musk's goons, and I hope everyone will land on their feet as soon as possible.

Everyone agrees kids are safer flying in their own seats, but no one requires it. Why?

In the face of adversity, we all have the agency to make our own choices and not to compromise our values. Ms. Sassoon deserves praise for her courage and refusing to engage in blatant corruption. May we all show the same courage when it is called upon us.
Danielle R. Sassoon, Manhattan’s acting U.S. attorney, resigned on Thursday rather than obey a Justice Department order that she drop a corruption case against New York City’s mayor, Eric Adams, that she had championed, according to three people with knowledge of the matter.

Overwhelming support for funding more affordable housing 🎉 despite City Council trying very hard to confuse the s**t out of voters with their prop 1B. Mayor Harrell and City Council – the message from the people is loud and clear, and the upcoming Comp Plan should reflect it.

we need to make cynicism uncool.

like having doubts in your heart and being overwhelmed is one thing, but a lot of us got trained by twitter to post our most cynical snark for engagement and that broke something in a lot of us. (me included!)

giving up is not actually that sophisticated!
It is kind of hard to find out who the actual bad actors are and who are just lazy, cynical people who don't want to fight.

Ok here is the thing with action/praxis/protest/showing up:

Sometimes you contribute by being a megaphone. Sometimes by being a wallet. Sometimes by being a physical body. Sometimes by being fuel or being relief.

If you can’t be one thing at any given moment you can almost certainly be another.

A lot of folks underestimate how much good will we received from other countries over the past century for being a reliable ally and partner. Even if we manage to rebuild trust, our foreign relationships are bound to become primarily transactional for the foreseeable future, mainly to our detriment.
It will take years to repair the damage that Trump and Musk have done in less than two weeks. And it’s going to take a lot of hard work to make sure we even get the chance.
