How do I know there was no woman in room when this phase was coined? Strong floor sounds like encouragement to do kegels.
“Strong Floor, No Ceiling”

First things that come to mind are camping and a homeless person sleeping on the street.

My Sagittarius son just told me, “I’ll burn that bridge when I get to it.” I almost corrected him but realized that phrase is exactly right for him.

Love my congresswoman!
Caving on a deal that doesn’t fix health care is, and always has been, a giant betrayal of the American people.

Hold the line. Save health care. I’m a NO on anything that doesn’t extend ACA subsidies.

My long nails mean I frequently type “Bet” instead of “Best” in my emails. I usually catch it but if I don’t it really changes the tone of my emails to opposing counsel.

I tell my dog we are going to visit “Auntie Prash” when we go to my friend’s coffee shop. I do not literally believe Prash is Pickle’s mom’s sister. There is no family resemblance.

Yes! I sent my boys through the O.W.L. Program at our UU church when they were 5 and 6. My 6 year old was baffled and asked me to confirm if the things he was learning were true so we had the Sex Talk on the back of a city bus . I still talk about with them regularly now that they are teens.
did anyones parents *actually* talk to them about sex?

its been a plot point in like every TV show and movie about raising kids for like centuries at this point but does it actually happen?

i think "the birds and the bees" speech is entirely a ficticious construct

I paid $3000 a month in childcare when my boys were in Kindergarten and pre-k. My husband I both have solid jobs but daycare used up most of my paycheck. Harrell’s text ENRAGED me.
Bruce Harrell’s campaign just sent me one of the most out of touch campaign messages I’ve ever received. It says a lot about a person if they think grandparents helping to pay for child care is some kind of scandal. If this is the worst they’ve got on Katie Wilson, that’s practically an endorsement.

Whenever I’ve got the evening to myself, I check Saeed’s timeline to figure out what to watch. I think I’m going to skip this one.
It’s been a long time since I’ve been this shaken by a movie. Wow. I guess this means it’s a good movie.
“A House of Dynamite” wore me OUT. I watched it in the middle of the night and woke up stressed. It should come with a free therapy appointment.

Best part of being a wine mom is I already have embraced the cringe.
So much this.

This photo is what The Atlantic chose to illustrate resistance cringe, and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of it.

To be fair, Portland’s always been weird.
It's interesting seeing the different ways resistance has formed in different cities. Los Angeles Organized, Chicago Radicalized, and Portland Got Weird as Fuck. All 3 have had success unifying their respective cities.

I guess my point is there are multiple paths to ungovernability.

Crying in you legal writing professor’s office was practically a requirement to graduate law school. My con law professor overrode my imposter syndrome and recommended me for a clerkship and my trial advocacy professor landed me my first law job. GO TO OFFICE HOURS!!!
I LOVE DOING OFFICE HOURS. It’s like, hey student, come intellectually vibe with me for a bit! Let’s sway together! UGHHHHH! It’s actually crazy how much I love being a professor!!!!

The distinction between ethics and morality in the legal profession is only eclipsed by the distinction between the law and justice.
One of the most nefarious actions that actually takes place on a regular basis is that laws & rules meant to protect those historically violated by our status quo and the individuals upholding it are weaponized against us.

It's also why I think Ethics should be required continuing ed for lawyers.
DEI for me, not for thee.

Co-signed your friendly franchisee attorney
Man, I was sorta hoping they were going to ban arbitration clauses.

Really, I think the continued existence as is of the FAA is the cherry on top of Congressional weakness. There's a large number of consumer protection statutes, like FDCPA & UDAP that come from a consumer era that seems alien now.
Americans should not be able to opt into a legal system that’s alien to American values, arbitrary, riddled with dogma, deferential to power, and premised on unearned authority, and that’s why we’re banning … Sharia Law? Shit I thought you guys were going after arbitration clauses

It’s mind boggling. I get the kids dressed and go to court and when the entire legal system is falling down. In the courthouse, I plan what I’m going to do if ICE shows up. I can’t invite my colleagues at the FTC to a conference because the ABA is a radical org and I don’t want them to get fired.
I’ve been resisting posting this because I don’t think it’s helpful but I’ve just gotta say…

Everything is so bad.

This woman was opposing counsel for five years. She brilliant and I’ve always looked up to her. Her son is ok but I’m so sick of living in a country where our babies lives are at risk. It could be any mom.

I support all of these rules! My local karaoke spot has the most supportive vibe. The women’s bathroom is nothing but affirmations! I don’t sing but I always end up getting free Jell-O shots.
anyway the rules of karaoke are

1) no songs over 5 min, ideally under 4
2) no showtunes
3) no signing people up w/out consent
4) NO AMERICAN PIE (see rule 1)
5) NO SCENES FROM AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT (see rules 4, 1)
6) NO DOWNERS UNLESS YOU CAN KILL IT (and if you don't know, there's your answer)

Words cannot describe how much the Brothers Fichter loved this place. They proposed it as an ideal location to take Grandpa Howard on his birthday. Grandpa hates snakes but loves the boys, so they went. www.fox13seattle.com/news/reptile...
Reptile Zoo to close in Monroe after 30 years
The Reptile Zoo is shutting down in October. A beloved family spot in Monroe is shutting down after three decades in the community.

I’m at the local bougie pub and the drunk guy at the counter is forcing the guy who works for a timber company to justify his job. “I really want to be friends with you,” he slurs “but I need to know you’re protecting riparian areas for future generations.” I love Seattle.

No subway in Seattle but once on the bus, my three year fell asleep on my lap. The whole bus worked together to get him, me, my grocery bag, and my four year off the bus without waking the little one up.
everyone tell me your favorite subway interactions. one time this older dude sat down next to me, called me a snow bunny, and opened his bag to show me that it contained piles of banded cash
