Hi @25kv.bsky.social , ever seen dual contact wires before? This is in Japan, I just noticed it while waiting for a train. It wasn't on all the lines so I'm assuming there's quite a specific reason it was used here.

Sherlock solved this by having him jump to his death, recover mysteriously and then spend an entire season calling anyone who asks about it lame-ass loser nerds.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

BASED. Python is a great language but the community is great too and it's great to see that the people "at the top" understand this.
TLDR; The PSF has made the decision to put our community and our shared diversity, equity, and inclusion values ahead of seeking $1.5M in new revenue. Please read and share. pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/10/NSF-...

Serious misconduct in public office is morally worse than murder
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

@garethdennis.uk have you done a rail natter about ballast? Can't find one. I'm doing some insomnia reading and I knew it was complicated but didn't know it was -this- complicated.

Love a job application form that asks you to copy/paste your CV into a million boxes. Great use of my time.

The right complain a lot about the left-wing 'capture' of cultural institutions like universities, libraries, and museums. Personally, I find the far-right capture of all of the state's enforcement arms: the police, border control & military to be far more worrying.

This crossing outside of work can only be the product of a car brained society. You have to beg to cross the road twice. There's no good reason for this except to prioritise traffic.

Can't imagine how bad this is to navigate if you're blind or partially sighted.

Absolutely dystopian juxtaposition from the Guardian front page. Difficult to understand how anyone of decency and conscience can defend this government at this point. Just sheer moral degeneracy to arm a state that does this and arrest people for objecting. Wtf are we doing as a country?

Public and active transport are mutually beneficial. You won't get better buses by throwing cyclists under them.

Went to Telford today. On the way out of the station there's this "energy harvesting pavement". As people walk on it, some energy is recovered. This is dumb. This is so dumb.
If you want to harvest energy from an area of land, use solar panels.
