I'm so embarrassed I didn't realize until today that Charlie Brown isn't the Democrats and Republicans aren't Lucy.

WE are Charlie Brown and the Democrats are Lucy.

Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.

No matter how they voted last night, every one of them has a say in maintaining Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin as their caucus leaders. Every one of them is accountable here.

This is what modern Democrat leadership has become; Republicans know they can wait them out, and the Democrats themselves will cave.

Democratic leaders are far more concerned about 'looking moderate' than doing the right thing.

Let’s be clear: Chuck Schumer is the one ending this shutdown, no matter how the votes read.

Chuck Schumer is claiming that he’s voting no, while letting other Senators (Fetterman, Kaine, King, etc) do HIS dirty work.

He must be removed from his leadership & primaried for the sake of this country

Truly amazing that any time the democrats have to bite the bullet and do something that ruins countless lives, there's always *just* enough votes to get it done, but if there is a vote on something that would actually improve people's lives, they are always one vote short. Crazy how that happens.

To be clear: D senators trusting R senators who promise a vote on ACA subsidies at some future point is nothing more that a liar convincing a sucker. A sucker for believing the lie, and for believing that Johnson will ever bring it up in the House.

The president said, in a televised speech, that he's sending his new, less restrained, more violent military into US cities to practice their brutality on immigrants and minorities, to better train them to apply that brutality to other countries.

He said this out loud.

SCOOP — The White House instructed all federal agency leadership on Tuesday to send out a mandatory message to workers blaming the impending potential government shutdown on House Democrats, The Handbasket was first to learn. Absolutely no modifications to the email were permitted.

My story:
Trump mandates all federal agencies send email blaming Dems for potential gov’t shutdown
Workers call the partisan email "a vile slap in the face."

Me and @Eleanor_Mueller on how little the shutdown threat is mattering to voters - as seen most vividly in the NJGov/VAGov races.

CW is that Dems will be hurt by a shutdown, and might want to avoid it to protect Spanberger/Sherill. Not so! www.semafor.com/article/09/3...

Actually, they want your mom to die - they want anyone who can't get out of bed every single day and be their indentured servant to die. If they can't find a way to exploit you, they have no use for you and they certainly don't want to have to pay to take care of you.

One thing that I don't get about conservatives is why they aren't apoplectic with rage about both police and military fleecing US citizens out of unspeakable sums of money. How are you more angry about getting taxed for public schools than you are about the money toilet that is the US military

Democrats are just incredibly, self-defeatingly bad about challenging their too-old members.

Multiple members ran for re-election this year despite being visibly ailing. One (Bill Pascrell) died after the primary - he was seeking a new term at age 87.
79-year-old congressman David Scott has missed two weeks of votes due to back pain. He was just reelected to his 13th term in Congress.
