THANK YOU ALL for racing the L8.

WE BEAT THE BUS doing everything from folk dancing to hopscotch and we're blown away by the support but we did notice that a Very Important Person from City Hall was missing today and will be writing an open letter inviting them to join us on a Route 8 bus!!

Seattle’s next mayor is willing to meet with anyone, including Trump
Katie Wilson wants a mayor's office that reaches out proactively, that has open lines to grassroots organizations and that builds political support from the ground up.

Check out our latest article covering how Route 8 riders and pedestrians compare to the number of drivers along Denny Way

Spoiler alert: it's a LOT closer than you would think

We've been blown away by the support we've gotten for our campaign and still can't believe how many people showed up to Race the L8.

TCC has been an invaluable ally and we are honored to receive this recognition.

We'll continue to fight (and race) until we get bus lanes on Denny Way.

Ghost buses have been rampant, so Fix the L8 Ghost Bus-ters set out Thursday night to track them down while asking riders to email to local leaders and remind them to vote!

Make sure you vote by Tuesday, ideally via a ballot drop box!

Big news: Alexis Rinck's Better Bus Lanes budget amendment officially has five co-sponsors, giving it majority support on the city council.
Flanked by a crowd of transit advocates, Seattle Councilmember Alexis Mercedes Rinck announced a "Better Bus Lanes" campaign on Wednesday, demanding expanded and improved bus lanes on the city's busiest routes.

Huge win for Route 8 riders and will hopefully get the ball rolling on some Denny Way bus lanes 🔥🔥
Bill from @alexis4seattle.bsky.social, Rob Saka, and Joy Hollingsworth will require SDOT to report to council on their progress on building bus lanes for:

- Denny Way (Route 8)
- Aurora Ave (E)
- Rainier Ave (7)

A common excuse we hear for SDOT's refusal to install bus lanes on Denny is that WSDOT could be opposing them. However, @juliareedwa.bsky.social checked, and WSDOT is “unconcerned” about potential impacts to I-5 traffic. The state’s ready to talk bus lanes on Denny, lets get them built!

👀 "An entire lane of solo drivers on Denny Way between Seattle Center and I-4 can fit into one articulated Route 8 bus, and a dedicated transit lane would allow that bus to be over four times faster than driving along this section"

Cars just don't scale well, especially in dense cities.

Although we disagree with the conclusions from SDOT's traffic study, its traffic counts were very eye-opening:
• Over 3 times as many people use Denny Way to access areas east of I-5 than to access I-5 S
• Of the people continuing east, 35% do so in a car, 34% in a Route 8 bus, and 31% on foot
SDOT has updated their post about Denny Way bus lanes and have uploaded the full traffic study, which you can read below.

In short, it's a 516 page document that does not mention mode shift or alternate routing a single time.

Probably still a better way to improve reliability than whatever SDOT is doing
