i mean, i could understand the shooter getting away, but it doesn’t sound like they even have any suspects. normally, by now, they’ve released some kind of grainy surveillance footage or description or sketch or *something*, but it seems like they’ve got nothing
this is proving to be a notably lengthy manhunt for a shooter by 21st century standards

I think that escalatory civil violence is very bad. But I swear to fucking God if anyone even attempts to suggest that Trump hasn't been the primary actor over the last decade fueling the normalization of civil violence in America, I'm going to lose it.

Unidentified men grabbing someone off the street and putting her in a car because she wrote an op-Ed. This as flatly authoritarian as anything we’ve seen in this country in a very long time.
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

reasonable people can quibble about how USAID does some of this, but that’s not what’s on the table—the question on the table is stark: do we want the might of the US state to provide people w/aid & assistance, or do we just want it to crush people? Do we want to protect the people who provide aid?
USAID is, frankly, one of the few arms of the government that does actually, unadulteratedly good things for the world (and with decent efficiency, given that that’s the notional concern). Not a coincidence that they’re the primary target here.

I think Americans, blessed with relatively stable government for a long time, assume there is someone, some adult, who will step in and make things right before the President does anything REALLY bad.

There’s not.
