There are people who will turn themselves into pretzels trying to find a legal, logical through line on big scotus decisions and others who will decry that there is no logic to what scotus says. Both are incorrect.
Holy shit this back and forth between Kagan/Alito/Jackson/&the SG.

Kagan: Doesn't your logic mean a whole raft of other agencies must be invalidated?
SG: Yes, but that's not being litigated right now
Kagan: So what?
Alito: What if we just want to say "but maybe don't apply our logic elsewhere?"

this dumb shit is what i mean when i say this is a purely aesthetic “politics.” yeah man, why can’t we have a fusion of cosmopolitan social democracy and revanchist hierarchies of wealth and privilege? tough question.
Matt Stoller: “..Trump & Mamdani defeated establishment in their own way, representing hunger of voters on the right & left who want something different. If those sides cd come together.. that would be a sea change in how we organize our political economy”.

They fired a top-level commander, the top of the chain of command but for SecDef and POTUS, because the wanton murder spree on the high seas as it's been conducted so far wasn't enough for them.
And there you have it. These strikes are clearly not legal. Pete will push commanders aside until he finds one who won’t question these extrajudicial killings. #SOUTHCOM

Please remember that the disgust people have over Christopher Columbus is not based on some modern, 21st century “woke” ideology, but rather on contemporaneous accounts of atrocities that make many modern genocides appear quaint in comparison.

What Klein is saying only makes sense if 75% of political violence wasn’t caused by 1 side of political divide. Understandable to fear of how to live together now. To which I think the American project as constituted is lost and rather than hold the frays together, something new must emerge.
"I had friends say to me, look, we can oppose political violence without whitewashing this guy. I spent some time thinking about that over the weekend...and my reaction honestly is that it is too little to just say we oppose political violence."

A grim reminder: these people will never be satisfied. There’s no point at which they will say “we’ve won, let’s enjoy life.” They will always be looking for someone else to punish, to revile, to dehumanize. They’re empty without that.

The capitulation is so much faster and worse than I could’ve imagined tbh. The fact that it is self-serving makes it worse but the sign of the times. I’d like to think that it is also myopic but for that to be true the next time the other side takes power they have to punish the capitulators.
