And one may wonder, “won’t degradation of everything eventually hurt even ultra wealthy? And wouldn’t SCOTUS be reasonable enough to figure that out?”

You can very easily know how scotus will rule if you follow the rule: does it upset the ultra wealthy or not. That’s the logic Alito is trying to preserve. Not actual logic.

I think opposite. Freezing stays for foreign aid and FTC signal to me SCOTUS will overrule Trump on tariffs and Fed Independence (you know money things they care about). Been MO Roberts court to provide cover for decisions they want by maximally ruling for Trump in cases they’re ambivalent about.

Also political violence seems as bad as this when Trump is in power. Specifically this term, he’s sending agencies like FBI and ATF to conduct immigration raids at Home Depots and Hyundai Plants while actual criminals and bad actors just roam without scrutiny.
