I've been enjoying Cocteau Twins' music for about 20 years and only just realised they're not speaking Scots Gaelic 😅 almost every song is glossolalia ("speaking tongues") and somehow I didn't figure it out, LOL.

Tropical Cyclone #Alfred will bring damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and hazardous surf conditions to southeast Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺🌀

Flash flooding, storm surge, and power outages are likely as the cyclone nears the coast. Landfall is expected near Brisbane late Thursday or early Friday.

Had a great time at @knotfestofficial.bsky.social Melbourne yesterday.

I met cool people, saw amazing bands & nobody gave two shits seeing a trans guy in just a binder.

Shout out to Alex (Slaughter to Prevail) and Corey (Slipknot) for both pausing their sets to help people get out of the mosh pit.

Watching this set now and the vocals are incredible 🤩
We are so extremely excited to have arrived in Australia for our FIRST EVER Australian tour - starting tomorrow at Knotfest in Melbourne! Check out this interview we did recently with them The Music. Melbourne, see you tomorrow 🥳!

The National Weather Service is THE ONLY source of weather data in the US. Every weather app, local broadcaster, and weather forecast map is based on NWS data from NOAA. This is a ridiculously stupid own goal for the US that will disrupt all kinds of social and economic activity, and endanger lives.
BREAKING: The mass firing of upwards of 1,800 workers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, including top climate scientists and weather forecasters, has begun.

The firings reportedly include workers at the National Weather Service.

Finally.

A major media outlet has finally reported on Trump’s total travel ban for transgender visa applicants seeking the United States.

I had to scream for two days to get someone else to report on it.

It is NOT just for athletes.

This is an astonishing story. Trump's personal lawyers, now in government, are trying to find any prosecutor take on a case to stop payment of $20 billion in funds by claiming there is fraud. The fact that career prosecutors are resigning rather than do so tells you how weak the case is.

Genuine question: is there a social script for how to interact on Bluesky?

I see people say things like "I hate reply guys". Don't people want replies? Or just likes/shares?

Atm, I browse topics I'm interested in & try to interact positively with people's posts, but is that a faux pas?
