Tbh, my guess is that it's schlagmetal (imitation gold leaf) or paint with mica. Genuine gold leaf looks much smoother and conforms to edges/bevels more 🤔

Technically speaking, it was a law to ban loitering for the purpose of soliciting sex work, but in reality, it was used as a way to discriminate against trans women for simply existing in public.

I agree. It would be similar to how anti-soliciting laws were abused and turned into the "walking while trans" discrimination law (which was only repealed in 2021) 😓

It would be good to see coverage from @crikey.com.au, @pinknews.bsky.social and @wired.com - they're the most LGBT+ friendly outlets I can think of.
