You can tell the US is confusing church and state because the state is protecting rapists.

I'm reading a book where, in the first chapter, a character puts the severed head of snapping turtle in his pocket.

I wondered to myself, is this Chekov's severed head of a snapping turtle in some guys pocket?

Ditto for conversations about getting students back to the classroom.
Any conversation about return to office vs work from home that does not acknowledge the ongoing pandemic is ignorant, ableist and destined to miss the mark.
Many, including disabled people but not only disabled know they cannot risk getting COVID and offices haven’t taken steps to protect workers.

I'm picking up a work project that was put aside 18 months ago.

I am nervous/ excited to start again.

Have I forgotten everything I learnt last year?

Mind your own business.

I've decided he was rushing to the bathroom and he was shouting..

Pee, be gone.
I was getting out of the elevator, and an unknown staff member was rushing past me and loudly exclaimed....

Pig annon?
Picking on?
Peeking one?
Pickling gun?

None of those make sense within the context of the situation.

“That means courts will treat these children like adults” is a sentence the premier actually used. Proposing life sentences for 14-16 year olds is evil. Meanwhile the federal government is banning kids the same age from social media. Too young to post online but not to serve life in prison.
These reforms violate human rights obligations, contradict the evidence and will be devastating for children and young people in conflict with the law.
Victoria’s ‘adult time for violent crime’ reforms will not solve the youth crime problem

Times are tough for me and for so many other people.

I don't often have the energy to count out all the small good things in my life.

In the past year or so, I've planted a number of fruit trees.

I was able to pick a small bowl of mulberries .

My feijoa trees are showing signs of growth.

Like if you've never been or known a ward of the state kid you can go ahead and shut the fuck up before you even open your mouth because for these kids poverty and crime are not their choice, it's a choice made for them by a system that fails them

If you have an auditory processing disorder, it often takes a moment to realise what was said. Your brain manually goes through words that fit the sounds that were made AND make sense in the context of what is happening.

My brain just completely failed in that task.

I've worked with liquid nitrogen for 20+ years.

LN2 is -195.8⁰C.

TIL that liquid oxygen may condense at -183⁰C meaning the oxygen in the air can turn to liquid within LN2 storage devices.

I should have known this before.

I'm not a writer, but I do know what kind of stories I want to read.

I imagine a DnD adventuring party with an asexual bard (Lady Orc?) who goes hunting a giant spider.

The bard does not follow convention tropes and does not try to seduce the spider.

Tag line. I'm not here to fuck spiders.

The SA Legislative Council will vote on minimum standards for rental homes tomorrow. If you care about renters, you know that minimum standards are a no-brainer: no other service that provides shelter to human beings for any extended period of time operates without standards for health/safety.

I have been in the ER full of sick people for hours with my N95, and not caught anything.

My family member with shit lungs on two immunosuppressants? Has been in an airport, an ER, a house with someone with an active COVID infection.

And not caught those infections due to their N95.
Masking works. My respirator has kept me free from Covid and flu for six years. 😷

Vaccines are great, but not inhaling viruses into your body is super cool when vaccines do not provide 100% protection. Vaccines & masking in combination FTW.

Tattoo friends.

How do you feel about taking a piece of art (no copyright issues) to a tattooist and having them turn it into a tattoo.

Does it need to be a photograph quality copy, or can the tattooist put their spin on it?

If they change it, does that remove the love and care of the original?

I'm not a writer, but I have been brainstorming some ideas with my friend who is.

I would absolutely love to read some asexual mothman stories.

So, creative types should get on this.
