It’s telling that he sleeps easy now that he is no longer personally discomforted — while millions are being priced out of their health insurance.

I can’t imagine the level of callousness it takes to prioritize being liked over the health and well being of millions of Americans. For shame.
Tim Kaine on backlash he's getting: "I got the first good night's sleep last night that I've gotten since Oct 1, b/c I wasn't worried about being able to look Capitol Police in the eye when I walked in, or what a furloughed fed worker would say to me at church, or what somebody would say about SNAP"

We've already raised enough money for over 800 meals and we're only about $100 away from our first goal of 1000 meals!

Can you help us get to 1000 meals for our neighbors?

Trying to be excited that we got our first snow last night. Alas, my days of staying home to enjoy a cozy snow day are over so the weather is merely an inconvenience.

My family used to spend new years at a monastery. That seems mighty appealing this year.
Maybe it's time to reconsider a monastic lifestyle

The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)

Guess I'll be putting that unlimited talk and text to good use these next few days.
Quick thread on timing of reopening the government, if they’re able to invoke cloture on MTP. (That’s a 60 voter, so you need 8 Dems assuming Rand Paul is still a no.)

For timing, if they invoke cloture today (assume after 6pm), that begins the 30 hours of debate. Takes us to Tuesday for MTP vote.

These people have NO excuses! They have several years left to make their case to their constituents. Not a single one of them is facing a primary challenge next year!

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Apparently health care is negotiable to Shaheen.
Health care isn’t negotiable.

We need to both reopen the government and work together to protect access to affordable health care by extending the ACA enhanced premium tax credits.

It doesn't actually matter if Chuck Schumer votes for this or not.

If he can't keep his caucus unified to protect healthcare for over 10 million Americans, he should resign as leader.

You don't negotiate with terrorists unless you're okay with the terms they've set for how many of your people they'll kill.
I don’t think this is chess. I think this is as straight forward as it looks.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

It's really not that hard. Vote no tonight and tomorrow morning use your regional offices to distribute food and resources to your constituents. You can protect your people without throwing them under the bus.
