Caving again showed the Republicans what they can get away with. They were worried for a moment they might face consequences because they couldn't spin that narrative, but Dem leadership basically showed they won't fight them on anything enough for that to be an issue

Republicans demand tougher abortion restrictions to extend Obamacare funds
Democrats say that’s a nonstarter, arguing there are already limits on abortion access. The dispute could torpedo a deal, leading to higher health insurance premiums for millions.

Democrats are currently ahead in 63 (!!!) races in the Virginia House of Delegates.

If this holds, it would be one of the largest state legislature swings in the last 4 years.

Its an absolute bloodbath for anti-trans Republicans.

It boggles my mind news outlets are parroting Trump's obvious lie that this is a crackdown on crime. That's not what this is or has been. It's a one-sided war to consolidate power, and he's slowly escalating the use of force as he feels he can get away with it. Pretending it isn't only helps him

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave being in the Three Houses world has me so hyped. It's literally the only thing that's made me even consider a Switch 2, and this is at a time when Nintendo's behavior has had me not wanting to buy anything from them

This tactic - pressuring corporations financially until they put a regime friendly voice in charge - is exactly how Orbán took over the free press in Hungary
Lord save us:

"Paramount is on the verge of acquiring Bari Weiss’s The Free Press and tossing her the keys to CBS News. The deal is on the 1-yard line, I’m told."

With Paramount securely in his pocket, David Ellison is on the verge of acquiring Bari Weiss’s The Free Press and tossing her the keys to CBS News. The deal is on the 1-yard line, I’m told.

Trump calls for deporting US citizens: "We also have a lot of bad people that have been here for a long time ... many of them were born in our country. I think we ought to get them the hell out of here too, if you want to know the truth. So maybe that'll be the next job."

🚨NEW: Erez Reuveni, the DOJ lawyer fired for his honesty in the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case, sends Congress a whistleblower letter detailing lawlessness at the DOJ around the CECOT deportations.

He says Emil Bove told the DOJ to respond to likely court orders blocking flights with "fuck you."

Was listening to The Daily podcast when I got reminded, oh yeah, they're the NYT when the coverage of US v Skrmetti came up. Holding up The Cass Review as an accurate, landmark study? Ignoring the history standards of care from WPATH to IC as though the Dutch in the 80s were the only standard?

SCOTUS ruling against trans youth is unsurprising. Expected even. It doesn't make them any less of a politically motivated, malicious actor, though. The ruling will cost kids' lives. It defies logic and precedent in the name of allowing persecution of an at risk minority
