OK; I figured out how to make some maps. Have patience with me; I'm self-taught. (If anyone knows how to get rid of the irrelevant sections of CD5, let me know.) Anyway, here's Frey vs. Fateh, also known as Kenwood vs. Cedar-Riverside.

As others have mentioned, we now have the Cast Vote Record for the Minneapolis mayoral election. I'm going to be doing a good bit of digging into this, but I'll start with the big question: How would DeWayne Davis or Jazz Hampton have done in a final round against Jacob Frey?

In case anyone is wondering how Thrive's sophisticated targeting of U of M students went, here is a complete list of precincts where Frey received a lower vote percentage than Donald Trump:

• 2-2 (portion of Marcy-Holmes)
• 2-4 (most of East Bank)
• 2-6 (Stadium Village)
• 6-3 (Cedar-Riverside)
screenshot of text message circulating among college students where a guy who is working for a frey-supporting PAC asks someone to get people in their frat to "vote and engage in the election" to get paid $350 for 3 hours of work, and if they win, they'll get a bonus

"it'll look good on a resume."

So many people seem to be misunderstanding how human beings vote. We’re not automatons. We’re motivated by emotion, connection, and our own goals. Assuming everyone will line up behind you because you think you have some perfect analysis is never going to be a realistic outcome.

Hi Minnesotan Bluesky:

The DFL has a well-known transphobia problem. I'm organizing to change the party platform in 2026 to be explicitly supportive of trans people in Minnesota. This will provide a basis for expelling transphobia from our party.

worth noting that jason garcia's victory in district 4 was achieved with no yard signs and only a handful of rally signs around. this shows that lawn signs are not an indicator of how an election is going to go! same with ward 10, people thought aisha chughtai was in trouble and lydia would win
renters get left out of the sign counts! in renter heavy wards like 7 and 10, signs are "land doesn't vote."

and notably, jason really had no signs at all, just some rally ones a few of us had, i had one in my window and on my bike, and @wedge.live had both too and maybe others? but no yard signs!

CONCLUSION

There is a very, very high chance that your first choice on your park board at-large ballot will be the ONLY THING THAT COUNTS. It's really not that common for your second and third choices to matter. So think hard about your first choice! 9/9

It's been two days since the election, and I'm still picking up Lydia Millard's garbage. Did she run out of Trump-donor money to pay people to pick up her garbage?
November 6, 2025 at 11:08 PM
This is nice to see after the right poured so much money into Millard. Looking at it precinct by precinct, I do see some shifts. Warsame got most of his votes in 10-7 and 10-8 (central Whittier). 10-8 in particular had barely more turnout this year, so some of Warsame's voters may have stayed home.
Bruce Dachis and Nasri Warsame combined vote share, 2023: 37.30
Lydia Millard vote share, 2025: 37.07%

The kids put in a GOTV shift. Sorry if they rang your doorbell too many times. (Who am I kidding? This is Minneapolis. Your doorbell doesn't work.)

I was voter #276 in Minneapolis 10-5. To revive the recent "why does nobody walk here" discourse, it's a beautiful day, and people were getting in and out of their cars to vote at a polling place at the exact center of a small precinct where nobody lives more than a half mile away.

Curious question: Has anyone encountered Working America (AFL-CIO affiliate) in the field in Minneapolis? On their campaign finance report for the period ending Oct. 20, they reported spending over $37K, half supporting Kay Carvajal Moran and half supporting the at-large Park Board DFL slate.

Minneapolis parents: With Election Day being a school release day, is anyone canvassing with kiddos tomorrow? My kids are interested, and I signed up for a shift. Anyone have any experience doing this?

I’m asking everyone to vote for a new Mayor by Tuesday and rank all 3 of Omar Fateh, Dewayne Davis, and Jazz Hampton in whichever order you prefer. I’ve worked at City Hall for the last 4 years and from my personal experiences I believe the City desperately needs a new mayor.

I'm gonna go for (relative) optimism. I may be wrong. I will not be entirely surprised if I am very, very wrong. If I'm right, I will be mostly happy.
WIN PRIZES FOR ELECTION KNOWING. It’s the last day I can post on Minneapolis elections (I’m an election judge so no Tuesday posts til 9-10p.) Here’s the game: pick the winners in *every* race on the Minneapolis ballot. Tie-breaker is turnout. I wil award appropriate prizes for Top 3. Hash: #mplswin

Here's an interesting trend I noticed in the Minneapolis early voting stats: With one day left, the wards with the biggest dropoffs in early voting relative to 2021 are precisely the wards with the most competitive city council races: 2, 10, 7, and 5.

Since the last election, a secret network of 24 McDonald’s owners has spent over $100,000 to back Jacob Frey and his allies.

5 of them are out-of-state and only 2 of them live in Minneapolis!

All with deep pockets, willing to spend big to tip the scales of this election.
