"After d'Entremont's musings over a possible defection were reported by Politico... the MP says CPC House leader Andrew Scheer and party whip Chris Warkentin 'barged' into his office, pushed open the door — almost knocking down his assistant — and yelled at him about 'how much of a snake' he was"
Barging into office, yelling from Conservative leadership 'sealed the deal' on defection: d'Entremont | CBC News
Nova Scotia MP Chris d'Entremont says the barging into his office and yelling from Conservative Party leadership 'sealed the deal' on his choice to cross the floor to the Liberals earlier this week.

Your government being against doing anything positive about climate change while your country keeps bursting into flames - if that doesn't drive home the message that your "democracy" is fundamentally illegitimate and you should be an anarchist, what will?
Think there's something particularly dispiriting about the Greek governments various moves against climate change initiatives because if your country routinely bursting into flames each summer doesn't drive it home, what will?

no reasoning, no thought process, no self-awareness
I read a lot of arguments (for AND against) LLMs, and both sides seem to think there’s a consciousness or intentionality or even a moral alignment

It is the elite who decide the wars, it is the regular people who pay the price.
Starting a war and expecting to move freely in Europe is hard to justify.
The EU is tightening visa rules for Russian nationals amid continued drone disruptions and sabotage on European soil.
Travelling to the EU is a privilege, not a given.

It's the annual funding drive, and later this month it's the 50th anniversary of the station, I think the first campus/community radio in Canada.

Hmmm, is Canadian government going to allow Canada Post to offer postal banking for people all across the country - especially in remote places where there's a post office but no bank outlets - to have better banking service options and less (/non-profit) fees?
Or not that kind of competition?

This sure feels like a (very scary) manufactured moral panic:

Who says: “I’m going to post on 8Chan because I want to ‘meet people where they are’”?
Who says: “Hey, I created an account on the Daily Stormer message board because I don’t want to ‘cede that space to the other side’”?
No one says this because it’s stupid – so why does anyone say this about X?

People don't always mean exactly what they say, sometimes they say it the way they do because it will get a better reaction from people

I think of this in terms of the "courage and conviction" of Trump etc as well.
If it does indeed work for whichever position you take, then maybe it does work - but maybe we need other ingredients too, depending on what we are looking to build and accomplish.

I think a lot of people have been noticing this over the past couple years but courage and conviction wins people over. Drawing lines and plotting indifference curves to figure out what you believe in turns them off

Well I guess it is "important" to know what Trump says. Popular too, it seems. But seriously, how much of this do we need in our feeds and lives?
