Long before other horribleness was revealed, I had a bad intuition that things were going to take a terrible turn when I realized that the tremendously popular wizard fantasy books that had broken containment *looked* like nerd books, but were really jock books

I'm reminded of this far too often

Listening to an interview where dude preluded every second or third sentence with "To be honest, ...", it got me wondering if that meant everything else he said wasn't honest?
Strange how intensifying words, e.g. "frankly," "honestly," "legitimately," etc. have become so overused that they are now words that dilute instead. See also: literally. Wondering if it's a case of 'when everything is intensified, nothing is' or if adverbs are as weakening as everyone said.

thanks! it helps if it reaches people who are in a position to help with the campaign, and specifically anyone who can sway U.Ottawa undergrads to vote for the new $3 fee.

so to be clear, it's not a fundraiser, it's a vote to establish a student fee, that we want students to understand why to do it

"no restriction" is a bald-face lie

(remember how they made the 'Gaza Hunger Foundation' because they wouldn't allow reputable aid agencies do the aid distribution? remember how many aid workers they've deliberately murdered? etc etc)

you demonstrate you aren't worth listening to. get real
February 10, 2026 at 7:25 PM
you think people can get along with what Israel is doing?

all the violence and atrocities they've committed, don't make things safer, they make a lot of people who will decide to not ever get along with such monsters.
- Israeli leaders feel good about calling other people monsters, but it's them...
February 10, 2026 at 7:21 PM
"endless aid" is a libel, against all those who aren't getting aid, because Israel is restricting it. it's obvious to anyone who looks at the facts

you think that who - Britain, France, Italy, and Japan? - had the deed to the West Bank and the right to make it Israel?

like I said, please get real.
February 10, 2026 at 7:19 PM
"Israel does have sovereignty over Judea and Samaria per the San Remo Accords. Over Gaza as well."

get real please, the sooner the better
February 10, 2026 at 5:38 PM
and for its own safety it needs to starve the population of gaza, and for its own safety it needs an army of PR saying any comment about the genocide it is committing is actually blood libel antisemitism

get real? it's occupation of the West Bank is a blatant war crime, and it is a genocide in Gaza
February 10, 2026 at 5:38 PM
ok i'll just say:

When Israel first decided they might want to occupy the West Bank with getting Israelis living there, their in-house govt legal expert was Theodor Meron, a Holocaust survivor.
He looked at the situation and said 'It's clearly a violation of the Geneva Conventions'. No question
February 10, 2026 at 5:26 PM
the problem is Israel is a rogue state that feels it can occupy other people's lands with impunity, when doing so is clearly a violation of international law.

what they are doing in West Bank? you say it isn't apartheid, despite there being like two sets of roads, etc... But it is a war crime too.

hope is too passive a thing, i think

it depends if people take up the cause or not, i think.
February 10, 2026 at 4:57 PM
so you say everyone is always against Israel but previously you said it is antisemitic for me to talk about the dynamic of Israel being portrayed as the perpetual victim.

ok then.

Possible CHUO miracle if people want to be part of making it happen:

The 'a gallon of raw milk' part makes me think of the induced puking after the pie eating contest in Stand By Me.

Go head to head with this guy but drink a little something first to unsettle the stomach and then see who wins the debate :)

there's one last chance where it is possible to help save the station and get CHUO back on its feet:

We still have a chance to do something about saving CHUO, but a total of less than 3 weeks to do it in:

It is correct that there is no automatic enforcement mechanism of the ICJ - it is simply that countries are supposed to respect international law, and ensure other countries do too

ICJ gave comprehensive orders for Israel to take to prevent genocide, and Israel violated them all. Made it very clear
February 10, 2026 at 4:19 PM
For some reason, there is a position that says, "Israel is always victim," and it combines with, "Israel doesn't ever do anything wrong because it is always antisemitism to say they did anything wrong".

The reason to read ICJ provisional rulings is because they are enforcing the Genocide Convention

Imagine Israel was attacked such that over 80% of buildings were damaged or destroyed, over 90% of the population was internally displaced with only makeshift shelters, and then all humanitarian supplies including food, water, and medical support were massively blockaded: would you say genocide?
February 10, 2026 at 4:59 AM
Instead of quoting "TheJC" quote "The ICJ".

Correctly assessing what Israel has been doing in Gaza, is not antisemitic, it's vital to retain elements of your humanity.

The provisional measures to protect Palestinians from genocide, ordered by ICJ starting Jan 2024, have all been violated by Israel
February 10, 2026 at 4:48 AM
I think that theory about the police has been as dead as a door knob for decades if not longer.

I'm not sure what plan you are referring to, but I support those who protest against the genocide, the genociders, and the supporters and enablers of the genocide(rs).
