When the headlines are "little difference between the candidates", why would people turn out to vote in the primary? How will my life be different with Hashmi as LtGov vs Rouse? This is not a sign that people aren't engaged and won't turn out. Just that this vote, big picture, didn't mean much.
Some are actually trying to claim these (preliminary) turnout #s (from a Virginia politico who calculated them) were actually strong turnout. Sure...stronger than 2005 or 2013 or whatever, and not that bad compared to 2017 or 2021, but...c'mon, seriously? bluevirginia.us/2025/06/demo...

They launched a coup, suffered no consequences for it, won back power, and have used the power to pardon everyone involved while remaking the country through violence and intimidation. It’s just ridiculous to talk about the political violence of yelling at ICE agents within that context.

In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.
