This is the dumbest day yet, a record that will only be broken by each ensuing day
If you watch Le Tour de France, you’ve already been seduced by the Viking intrigue
Today I learned I am “will click on an Instagram ad from Viking River Cruises” years old

I talk about this all the time. My old journalism job kept asking me to write more columns (because they did well) and I kept resisting, because I only thought they deserved to be written if I cared enough about an idea to write passionately about it
Having been a columnist, I think the actual job is part of the problem.

A column every week means you rarely get dug in enough on any one subject to have background, and it means either adopting a “shallow one/deep one” schedule or always shooting from the hip on hot topics under deadline pressure.

One of the worst byproducts of the last decade is the increasing refusal of people admitting when they’ve fucked up

As I’ve talked about many times here before, also a very real post-pandemic problem here in D.C.

NEW: @propublica.org investigated the Chicago apartment raid where kids were zip-tied and citizens detained for hours. They find:

- NONE of the arrested were criminally charged
- NO evidence the building was "filled with TdA terrorists."
- ZERO legitimate reason for DHS to rappel from a Blackhawk.

Pretty good microcosm of the overall state of affairs on metro this morning: Teenager hops over the fare gate while a handful of National Guardsmen watch ambivalently, eyes glazed over

Yeeeeep. A lot of these guys come from poverty. You can absolutely understand this as an easy way to help their family and friends without having to pay them out of their own pocket
People asking why guys making millions are taking on $5K prop bets, it's because players have family and friends and business partners that could use a quick influx of cash & they think throwing one bad pitch doesn't affect the outcome of the game and helps out a friend who isn't making millions.

A question I asked of some financial folks I know back in the very beginning of tariff implementation was: Where is the money going, and who is in charge of accounting for it all? I did not get satisfactory answers
Oh, so he totally stole the money

You guys I made plantain buñuelos rolled in cinnamon sugar tonight and they were so good we housed the entire plate of them before I even considered taking a photo

Which politician will give us “let them eat mac & cheese” out of this?

CPL is an absolute palace to the people and these proposed cuts are abominable. Artificial austerity. Chicago folks, read this, check the links to bug the mayor and your alders—this can be fought and won.

Fuck it, dude. Let’s go bowling. #Calgorithm
We got good Cal for the first half. Could we possibly get it for 4 quarters?

So, not really. Who wants to win this game less?

The kind of thing I would actually spend money on if I was rich. Proceeds benefit American Public Television, so if that’s you, go for it
I've never seen an actual Bob Ross painting for sale*, and lo, here are two.
