I don’t mean to sound extreme, but I don’t think we should have torture camps for people with criminal records either.

Yeah it is cool when billionaires fund struggling public health outposts but you know what’s cooler? Them not existing and us funding them on the regular without them having to go begging constantly.

I think it’s also true that loneliness among women has historically been treated as an individual problem, while loneliness among men is treated as a societal problem. That, in turn, comes from an assumption that women are supposed to earn the company of others while men are entitled to it.
men’s loneliness gets “more airtime”?

baby I have lived the past three decades of my life witnessing corporate media elevate men’s loneliness into a full-blown balls-to-the-wall CRISIS once every 4-5 years

“more airtime” is hilarious

Too far away from the shore to look at waves, too close to the shore for the good thunderstorms in summer and the real snow in winter. But I've been in my apartment for a long time, so it only costs me twenty six jillion dollars to live here.
The worst thing about living in Boston is that it costs twenty-seven jillion dollars to live here.

The second worst thing is that the geography sends all the good weather north of the city, so we never get the good storms :(

Good news? From this Supreme Court?
wbur.org WBUR @wbur.org · Nov 10
The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to take up a case challenging its landmark decision to legalize gay marriage nationwide. The challenge to the ruling came from Kim Davis, the former Kentucky clerk who refused to issue same-sex licenses after the court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges decision.

Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.

The depth of the shame of a country this wealthy and abundant allowing its people to go hungry is impossible to measure. The fact that a handful of people could fix this by paying their fair share of taxes while still remaining obscenely wealthy makes it even worse.

New York, Los Angeles, Boston and San Francisco will host the first four teams in the Women’s Pro Baseball League, debuting next spring.

I've been to lots of Boston Common protests. I've been to protests with a couple dozen people, and protests that spanned from the State House to Park Street, and on very rare occasions, protests that looked like this in aerial view. Today was the first time it felt like this looks on the ground.

Only an administration intent on committing war crimes in the present and future would stoop to calling Wounded Knee a "battle" rather than what it truly was: a massacre of over 250 Lakotas, mainly women, children, and the elderly. 1/

ICE is doing things that all Americans are going to be called to answer for.
ICE agents held a man’s five year old autistic daughter and taunted him with “Is that your daughter” in an attempt to get him to come out of the house.

They were rebuffed but two days later took him from his car.

Video appears to show federal immigration agents trying to coax the man out of his Massachusetts home while asking, “Is that your daughter?”

I have written and deleted a lot of posts but I keep thinking about how the brutal assassination of Minnesota State senator Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark, and their beloved dog Gilbert in June did not prompt this same level of calls for empathy, sympathy, and flags at half-mast.

It's not coming. American society is built on the idea that Black suffering is normal.
Three HBCUs have had to lock down their campuses today.

What about THIS political violence?

Where's the condemnation from the right and from the media?

Not all of America. I'm mourning for the children we keep letting get shot, get preventable diseases, and get needlessly separated from their parents. I don't condone political violence, but I also don't have any mourning left for him.
not even surprising at this point

So I sort of forgot it was Election Day today, but good news! I have six and a half hours to fix that! If you're in Boston, this is your reminder that the polls close at 8. With Trump setting his sights on Boston, our city's leaders matter more than ever.
