i’ve read a lot of smart predictions about what happens when the AI bubble bursts, but they all left me dissatisfied.

i wanted something that captured what *could* happen, if we use this crisis as an opportunity.

What could happen when the AI bubble bursts - The Dart
Crisis creates opportunity, and when the AI bubble bursts, there will be a chance for a reckoning for tech-driven capitalism.

For my american comrades visiting their old parents this weekend
I cracked the code. Told my boomer dad that having motion smoothing on his TV 'makes it work twice as hard' and will 'wear it out faster' and now hes obsessed with making sure its off.

I’ve been running around asking tech execs and academics if language was the same as intelligence for over a year now - and, well, it isn’t. @benjaminjriley.bsky.social explains how the bubble is built on ignoring cutting-edge research into the science of thought www.theverge.com/ai-artificia...

my review of ghost of yotei is that it’s an improvement over tsushima, which was pretty but overrated. stellar performances, good writing, rather shallow world interactions. my most damning criticism is that the romantic plot stayed subtext when it ABSOLUTELY could and should have been maintext.

i’m struck by how hard rogan is working to steelman him. he’s not really jumping on the “lmao a vulgar robot” schtick; he keeps saying “and it’s going to get better, right?” i think rogan can anticipate his own audience’s ick with musk in this moment and is trying to keep them on side.

A fine little article, like a modern-day Book of Isaiah.
Or maybe Jeremiah.
Look, I'm saying that it's angry, and apocalyptic, and is intensely immanentizing the eschaton.

genuinely the world would be a better place right now if journalists did this.
Journalist challenge: Use “Machine Learning” when you mean machine learning and “LLM” when you mean LLM. Ditch “AI” as a catch-all term, it’s not useful for readers and it helps companies trying to confuse the public by obscuring the roles played by different technologies. 🧪

wicked for good does not measure up to the first one but i did have the joyous experience of sitting next to two teenage girls who i can confidently say are jonathan bailey’s BIGGEST FANS. when he said “you’re beautiful” they collapsed into ecstatic giggles for like 30 full seconds. bless them.
