I really do think we’re well beyond this point.

If you pretend that your differences with friends and coworkers and family are about “politics” when in fact they’re about right versus wrong and fascism versus the rule of law, you’re doing your country a grave disservice.

While the Trump administration is modeling its shift of the United States from democracy to authoritarianism after Victor Orban's Hungary, they would do well to notice how that's going over with Hungarians.

@chrismurphyct.bsky.social: They're out there saying 'we just passed a bill to eliminate taxes on tips & taxes on SS benefits.' NONE of that's in the bill. But they deny that they're cutting Medicaid. So they want credit for popular stuff that isn't in the bill but ignore the deeply unpopular stuff.

In our internal polling, among Democrats likely to vote in the spring Supreme Court election, 1% approve of Elon Musk.

How many disapprove? 94%.

I’ve never seen *anyone* so loathed.

Trump and Musk see these people as expendable. They want them to die. It’s just another cost cutting measure for them.
"The public is going to suffer terribly as a result of this," the source wrote to NPR. "Local field offices will close, hold times will increase, and people will be sicker, hungry, or die when checks don't arrive or a disability hearing is delayed just one month too late."

The same week that Elon Musk baselessly called Social Security a "Ponzi scheme," his co-president Donald Trump announced that he wants to create a national crypto reserve.

This could result in taxpayer dollars being used to prop up an actual Ponzi scheme.

This is a bigger issue than people realize. Not just jobs lost. But their families losing benefits. Landlords losing tenants. Cities and towns losing revenue. This is how recessions start

Ready Fire Aim is no way to govern.
More accurate, fewer words;

"There are plenty of contractors going under".

A friend furloughed 75% of staff (furlough w/paying for health insurance for three months), 50% exec pay cut, 25% rest of staff to keep as many people w/salary.

PS: Wasn't 18F a government office, not a contractor.

You’ll notice that when Musk delivered his bogus “when we make mistakes we correct them quickly” statement in the cabinet meeting he chose to mention suspension of Ebola funding and not the firing of workers who maintain U.S. nuclear weaponry.
Amid the tumult of mass firings, the Trump administration’s dismissal of workers who maintain America’s nuclear weapons delivered perhaps the greatest shock. These are people with highly sensitive jobs, the Energy Department would later acknowledge, who should have never been fired.
How DOGE detonated a crisis at a highly sensitive nuclear weapons agency
A DOGE-driven mass firing of critical nuclear workers sparks alarm and leaves scars, as cost-cutting missteps throughout government rattle lawmakers.
