So excited! I submitted a quarto site for the closeread competition. It's a Quarto website that uses closeread (scrollytelling) and parallax effects to tell a story about bigfoot sightings data. note - it doesn't work well on mobile:(

renv is garbage, im sorry devs:(

it advertises that everything will default to PPM automatically, but it never does. and you cannot change the config to do so. and there are always bugs, especially when projects that have collaborators using various systems. this is such a headache #rstats

highly recommend #quartodoc for creating python docs. It treats your doctrings like they are quarto snippets, so you can do quarto things in docstring, like execute code, make cross refs, make diagrams, etc.+you can fully customize a website around it #quarto

Cool so what happens if GOP attach a national abortion ban to a CR? You'll vote for that too?

🚮
My YES vote is *not* an endorsement of this deeply flawed CR.

My YES vote is 💯 about refusing to shut our government down.

I refuse to punish working families and plunge millions of Americans into chaos.

I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever vote to shut our government down.

These kind of votes are born out of trans representation in government.

Rep. Howell & I have built solid relationships with Republicans and those relationships change hearts, minds, and (eventually) votes.

It is painful, grueling work. But it makes a difference.
Two BIG wins in Motnana!

We killed two anti-trans bills today (a drag ban & a bill requiring CPS to remove trans kids from parents).

I'm so grateful for Montana Democrats, who have stood unwavering in their support of trans rights. And grateful to all the Republicans who said enough is enough.

To everyone who expressed interest in running for office, I'm working on setting up a form for a 15-minute 1-on-1 call with me. I had my first meeting today.

If you've responded to that post (or this one), I'll send you a link to the form sometime this week.
If you are trans and want to get involved in politics, let me know and I will set up a time to chat with you about the process and how to take those first steps.

This is terrifying.
Breaking: FDA's March meeting to select flu shot strains for 2025-2026 season has been canceled per email sent to committee members, a VRBPAC member told me. drug companies need about 6 months leeway to make shots in time for fall vax campaigns. #healthpolicy

All of the winners are good, I'm always impressed by what people build with Quarto.

But let me highlight how cleanly mschnetzer.github.io/scrollytell_... combines scrolly-telling and regular layouts.

I didn't think "scrolly-telling is underused"; this submission moved my opinion in that direction.

Hi, hello. In order to grasp the significance of Trump crowning himself a King, you have to understand that he is literally carrying out a plan crafted by Curtis Yarvin, a right wing extremist, to overthrow democracy and replace it with dictatorial rule by a monarch-CEO.
