THE RETURN OF THE PLAYER: Ode to Alejandro Jodorowsky
The game's prize isn't enlightenment,
but choice
I snap awake behind my eyes, recalling:
I volunteered for this circus of souls
Awareness becomes authorship.
The cosmos slips me a trickster's pen:
"Now, what strange new world will you write?"
The game's prize isn't enlightenment,
but choice
I snap awake behind my eyes, recalling:
I volunteered for this circus of souls
Awareness becomes authorship.

One of my favorite memories as a 90's kid is browsing the bargain CD bins at the record store and snagging music from bands you'd never heard of. Demo's, LPs from locals that broke up 5 years before, etc. My office can't handle another plant, so I guess I collect CD's now.

No internet for 24hrs. I hadn't realised how dependant I've become for its use. My normal default reaction when thing don't work is to say 'what have I done'. I haven't done anything of course. At least my record player works, and i have unread books to entertain me.

Goldfrapp - Supernature
I'm not really one for coloured vinyl, but I must admit I'm taken with the translucent green of this 2020 pressing of Goldfrapp's 2005 classic. It sounds bloody good as well.

When I bought my record player I worried it would be a passing interest and forgotten about after a month like some other things have been.
But that didn't happen and I still use it a lot. No regrets at all.
I could have spent a lot more money on a switch and got a lot less use out of it I think.

Today I went to Som Records hiding in plain site on 14th St. It's a classic basement record store and it is wonderful, organized, if a bit small. It's like how Crooked Beat used to be 20 years ago. I picked up some unexpected treats!
One of my shutdown activities is going to all the area record stores. I haven't found any more Fall vinyl, but I did pick up an obscure Nurse with Wound LP at Crooked Beat in Alexandria and Prince Live at Glam Slam at Records and Rarities in Springfield.
