I wish they said explicitly that there's $5 billion in emergency reserves they're refusing to use instead they're happy to let people - mostly children, the disabled, and elderly, starve.

Just learned that our monthly healthcare expense is increasing by $92 per month next year (almost a 30% increase for each of us). Love being a self-employed small business owner during Donald Trump's presidency. This is awesome. Everything is fantastic.

This is bananas. For anyone who has ever been to the national mall on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon, this looks like it would if there was a blizzard or something. Ghost town in what is supposed to be a point of national pride 😔

Getting to 15 minutes or less wait times for buses is an inflection point for ridership. Want traffic to improve? Want equitable access to transportation? This is a way forward. A good one to share with other Raleigh folks @wademinter.com @raleighreporter.bsky.social @triangleblogblog.bsky.social
Raleigh increased bus service from every 30 min to every 15 min on its route serving Glenwood Ave. Ridership then doubled in the year that followed.

Over last year, city’s high-frequency routes have had 89% ridership growth.

People will ride when you give them service that they can rely on!
When does the next bus come? GoTriangle reduces wait time on its busiest routes
The regional agency joins GoDurham and GoRaleigh in offering bus service at 15-minute intervals between Durham and Chapel Hill.

Grid scale change over 6 years in Texas. NY has really changed over the years too but it looks behind the meter.

Democracy isn’t dying in darkness it’s being dismantled at the hands of the Supreme Court of North Carolina. @allisonjriggs.bsky.social won this election fair and square back in November. Her opponent is a petulant Confederate cosplayer who can’t handle losing. Concede Jefferson Griffin.

I’ve watched energy hearings in Texas for over 20 years. The hearing on SB 819 was unlike anything I’ve ever seen for an energy bill.

50+ Texans spoke up to oppose the bill, including this rancher from Armstrong County: "Y'all don't realize what small counties need." 1/5

Both kids were there in some form Jan-July, with just our youngest there Aug-Dec.

(Compared to $19,349.68 in 2022 for both kids, all year.)

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

I have worked at NOAA since 2010, and I'm so incredibly proud of the work I did. If anyone wants a quote, let me know.
Predicting El Niño and La Niña is tough, but new research analyzing 20+ years of forecasts finds dynamical models outperform statistical ones, especially for El Niño. La Niña onset? That's been much harder. Read more in our new ENSO blog post! www.climate.gov/news-feature...
