The death penalty as a criminal deterrent only makes sense if you connect that old-time people really thought they were sending murderers and cattle rustlers directly to G-d for instant and divine justice. So it makes much less sense today, like, zero.

Randomly opened the Pluto TV app on my phone earlier and there was the last 15 minutes of "Image of the Fendahl" Part Three. I think this is one of the lesser entries in the Graham WIlliams era, but the script is well structured -- every scene builds on the one before. Except...

Discussing overlooked gems of the Jodie era with Jim and Jeff is one of the last guilt-free fun things you can do in the States in 2025. Sontar HA!
This week Jason Miller joins us as we travel to the Crimea. Along the way we meet Mary Seacole, Dan's parents and discuss the Sontarans finally becoming a credible threat...

As an American "Doctor Who" fan I often know eminent British actors from their DW guest spots but not the rest of their august body of work.

Doing a slow rewatch of the old American supernatural anthology "One Step Beyond"... who shows up in 1959 but... Max Adrian!

As I have said to students nowadays, the most important thing one learns in school is how to learn, and using LLMs completely defeats that objective. The process matters.

You don't use a fork lift the gym. The immediate result—weights up in the air—is not always the key reason to do something.
It’s widely known (and, I think, pretty uncontroversial) that learning requires effort — specifically, if you don’t have to work at getting the knowledge, it won’t stick.

Even if an LLM could be trusted to give you correct information 100% of the time, it would be an inferior method of learning it.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

Good thing I'm finally getting paid for work again after that 43-day debacle. Now I can buy two of these!
As a consequence of a call to action in this episode, I've made a design that can be added to tees, stickers, even cushions!

This email chain is the gift that keeps on giving.

PLEASE tell me that this was something from the 20,000 pages of Epstein emails that the GOP released.
It hasn't been confirmed who 'Bubba' is; however, it is the nickname of former President Bill Clinton who had a decades long close relationship to both Jeffrey Epstein and Donald Trump.

For anyone who is like “the creature is also named Frankenstein”; Mary Shelley went to see a play version of Frankenstein and was tickled that they listed the creature as “———“ in the dramatis personae:

“this nameless mode of naming the unnameable is rather good”

I learned about Watson and Crick and DNA in the 9th grade...But I learned about the double helix first from "Doctor Who", and "Kinda".

As you can tell from my bio, this is a science fiction page. My baseball fandom has gone from 90 to 2 in recent years, as the sport is more than ever a corporate billionaire/MAGA con job pulling a cash-and-dash on the fans. /1

Guys like Freddie and Ohtani and Mookie are also there because the Dodgers were the organization willing to pay workers their fair market value as opposed to most of the rest of the league working as a cartel to depress worker pay!
As a have-not fan, I manage to find a way to hate every sports dynasty, but I don't mind and often like the Dodgers. I don't really know why. Freddie? Ohtani is fun to watch? Mookie helps Nashville youth sports? They seem OK to me.

It’s very strange to repeatedly see Democratic “strategists” observe that the party is widely seen as focusing on identity politics—in spite of the Harris campaign largely avoiding them —and concluding this is a problem with party priorities and not with losing voters to misinformation.

What happens when the most innocent Dr meets the most manipulative?
This question perhaps makes Cold Fusion a most interesting of multi-Doctor stories.
Plus we get the 7th Dr seeing Adric again, Chris hitting on Nyssa & Tegan...
Really is a collision of eras!
All on @thedwshow.net!
On this month’s @thedwshow.net we have a look at the Virgin books’ only multi-Doctor story! What happens when Davo’s Dr meets the arch-manipulator 7th Dr of the NAs?!
We chat about this Lance Parkin story!
