For today's edition of our free #MonumentMonday newsletter, we take a little virtual visit to County Roscommon to visit a Neolithic portal tomb in a truly evocative location!

Reform UK councillor slapped with a £40,000 fine for hiring an illegal worker. 🤔

So much for "taking back control", apparently the rule is: deport them… but only after we’ve squeezed some cheap labour out of them.

A masterclass in hypocrisy!

I hope someone draws this wonderful story about Tom Stoppard's Arcadia and the power of the arts to help us see things differently, to the attention of our Education Secretary. Do read it, it will lift your spirits.

The UK is a strongly pro-choice country with 86% of Britons wanting abortion to be legal in all or most cases. But the US anti-choice movement has been investing heavily into campaigns in Britain, and Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party seems to be support the interference.
The worrying rise of US anti-abortion rhetoric is in full force - how deep is Reform UK's involvement?
Money is pouring into anti-abortion campaigns in Britain, and it seems Nigel Farage’s party isn’t pushing back…

@tommckinney.bsky.social loved the starling this morning. We have one joker here in Dromore who does a buzzard's 'mew'. We still rush out to see the non-existent buzzard.

In my own way, I try to be an evangelist for the #art of #caricature.

If anyone has any questions about what I do - whether in commissioned paintings, or in designing puppets for Spitting Image - I'd be delighted to answer them.

Reposts appreciated!

@tommckinney.bsky.social loved the pied wagtails! I see them all the time at Sainsbury's Sprucefield, in the car park. Cheery, bold little birds.

I'm sorry to have to say our beautiful Polly was put to sleep last night. She was a very bright cat, and it was easy to forget she was also old and had a chronic health condition. The vet came to our house and was kind, gentle and quiet. She had a peaceful and dignified end.
