The Obsessive Joy Of Autism
I am autistic. I can talk; I talked to myself for a long time before I would talk to anyone else. My sensory system is a painful mess, my grasp on language isn’t always the best, and it takes…

How to Respond to “So, Tell Me About Yourself” in a Job Interview
The toughest job interview question may seem like a softball from the interviewer’s perspective: “So…tell me about yourself.” Nailing this question starts with realizing that your interviewer already…

This is a map of Los Angeles. The arrow points to a red dot. That red dot (roughly) represents the protest area seen on TV.

To me, the gross mischaracterization of what’s happening in Los Angeles looks like an excuse to deploy the military—to protect government assets like ICE.

With a nifty infographic that explains just how important the UC system is to the state and nation.
For some perspective, the federal government funds *over half* of all scientific research and development conducted by the @uofcalifornia.bsky.social -- and UC is collectively responsible, in turn, for over 8% of all academic research conducted in the United States.

Good column.
COLUMN: The people running college sports have yet to articulate a good reason for expanding March Madness or the College Football Playoff. But they’re doing it anyway, underscoring the emptiness of their leadership. www.usatoday.com/story/sports...
College sports leaders have no good reasons to expand CFP, March Madness
SEC and Big Ten leaders, plus many others, are waging war against problems that don’t really exist; struggling for the sake of struggle.

There's going to be an interview with Biden in like a month or so and he's going to sound much better than he did.

Why? Because the presidency and the campaign trail are fucking brutal, they turn healthy 50 somethings into zombies, much less a man in his 80's.
Despite all the good he did, Joe Biden was “too old” for folks. So now we’re stuck with “sleepy Don” — a corrupt bigot for a president. Nice work, America!

Remote work doesn't thwart productivity. It boosts focus.

Government workers are 12% more productive when randomly assigned to work from home. They're more efficient where it's quiet.

Most people aren't shirking from home. They're escaping distractions and long commutes.

DOGE recommended firing workers at:

-FDA, which oversees Neuralink

-FAA, which oversees SpaceX

-USAID, which probed Starlink

-CFPB, which oversees Tesla's financing arm and a potential payment platform on X.

"Conflict of interest" is a severe understatement.

NOAA is reportedly on the DOGE chopping block.

The National Weather Service, which is part of NOAA, provides life saving weather forecasting in the US.

A study found that for every $1 invested in NWS, it produces $73 in value to Americans.

Again, this isn't about efficiency.
