Art Briles has been hired as the head football coach at a D2 school and so is back in the news. If you want to understand why this hire is upsetting for many, here's the long piece @dansolomon.com and I wrote back in 2019 about How Baylor Happened: web.archive.org/web/20190208...
How Baylor Happened
WACO, Texas — There’s not much to recommend spending four years in Waco. Driving into town up Interstate 35 from the south, the endless stretch of Texas nothing fills out slowly. It’s flat in the way ...

Baylor football allowed Art Briles to cover up sexual assault to protect their winning football team. No one wants to continue to hold Baylor accountable for that. Now Briles is getting a chance to return to football.

Baylor and Briles put football over the safety of the student body.

People of Illinois, we need your help.

Get your cell phones out – record what you see. Put it on social media. Peacefully ask for badge numbers and identification. Speak up for your neighbors.

We need to let the world know this is happening – and that we won’t stand for it.

When you make people afraid to speak out then the people who dissent feel increasingly isolated.
It becomes more important for those who can risk it speak so those who can't know they aren't alone and the fight is still worth it.

Weak ass, mushy peas politics. The answer isn't concession. Concession leads to Authoritarian Christofacism.

The answer is taking a firm stand for what's right and fighting to the death for it.

Reminder most homeless people are veterans, abuse victims and people with mental illness.

Homelessness is a failure our society to support its people, not a failure of the people experiencing it.
Brian Kilmeade endorses euthanizing homeless people: "Involuntary lethal injection, or something. Just kill them."

the GOP put the all-ages trans medicaid ban back in the budget, despite it being struck. they did it to force dems to challenge it on the floor.

if you've been paying attention, you know dems need to hear you want them to actually stand up to the GOP. contact info at reps.fyi 🧵

This is not about the merits of Iran’s nuclear program. No president has the authority to bomb another country that does not pose an imminent threat to the US without the approval of Congress. This is an unambiguous impeachable offense.
