If you're watching Heated Rivalry and thinking, "Holy shit there's all this sex and pleasure and fun and yearning and character exploration and I think they might figure it out and find happiness, is this even legal???" I am begging you to start reading genre romance, you are going to be thrilled!

Further evidence that widespread covid vaccination is better for everybody.
A study on 1.7 million people in Hong Kong shows superior hybrid immunity to Covid in people who got vaccinated before infection vs. people who got infected first. "Our findings are a direct rebuttal to arguments for natural immunity," the authors write. doi.org/10.1016/j.va...

Thinking about the other week at the bears game where a very big Chicago man brought his own koozie for his beers. I said to him “wow. It never occurred to me to do that” and he looked me dead in the eye and very seriously said “this ain’t my first rodeo.”

Here's how that would go in a recent IL case:

-Springfield officer Sean Grayson murders Sonya Massey

-he lies (as he did): she was trying to burn him with a pot of boiling water

-his name isn't released bc he's a "victim"

-his previous misconduct isn't publicly discussed

-no outcry, no charges

It's also time to stop using the naturopathic term "natural immunity" and replace it with "disease-acquired immunity" to emphasise all of its disadvantages.

Hey folks "I fucking hate him and everything he stands for, the blood of millions is on his hands, and he needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for his crimes" is compatible with "even the worst people deserve basic human rights."

Things would be easier if it wasn't.

I mean, yeah. That's the entire point? Heated Rivalry, the book, is about loneliness and isolation and shoving yourself so deeply in the closet that you can't see anything outside of it, except you can't deny yourself one fundamental sweetness. The one that allows you to express your true self.

I love the US postal service and am happy to pay $30 a year for it
The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

As I have noted before, almost half of everyone ever born died in childhood. There are people alive today who were already alive when this stopped being true for everyone born in the future.

All of pre-20th-century history is an emotional foreign country, for this reason alone.
Currently dorking out over this graph about child mortality with my brother. Just mind boggling to take in.
