Elon Musk biographer here.

The "missing context" from the op-ed below is that Musk has been spreading racist and antisemitic memes, screenshots, graphs, charts, unsourced narratives, tropes, and buzzwords for 18 months now.

Publicly. Daily.

The Post either knows this or should not be in business.

The thing is, I feel like if someone truly, accidentally, & unintentionally made a n*zi salute on a national stage, they would be appropriately horrified by it and apologize. And when they don’t ….. it says everything.

They will go after Wikipedia.

They will go after libraries.

They will go after school boards and public extracurricular activities that are anything but sports.

They will go after archives.

Because knowledge, education, culture, and progressives are all the enemy.

Thinking is the enemy.

If you’re serious about this, here’s what you’ll do:

-Stop trying to ignore Trump, respond to EVERYTHING. No “he’s trying to distract us.”

-No message-testing. Be honest. Be authentic. Overstate, don’t understate.

-Pursue direct and meaningful conflict with Trump. Conflict draws eyeballs.
We are contending with a GOP that knows how to win the most important factor that shapes perception: attention.

Understanding this is step one. Step two is actually changing it. Dems need a whole new strategy.

Fighting the attention war is a key part of my platform.

Before the election, I warned that Trump would pardon all of the Jan. 6 defendants and some of them would form the core of a new rightwing paramilitary organization loyal to Trump.

At the time, people dismissed me as alarmist. I stand by that prediction.

It’s exactly the same with messaging and rhetoric, especially in an environment where a successful message will blow up, go viral, and reach literally the entire nation while all the failed ones will be forgotten in 12 hours

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.

With mass deportations starting today across the country, it is vitally important - for both citizens and non-citizens - to know your rights.

You have the right to remain silent. Assert it. You have the right to a lawyer. Ask for one.
