Democrats should run on the fact that their opposition is literally killing Americans and destroying the country.

It’s not hyperbole. That’s the message they should be blasting out to media every day.

They are killing Americans and destroying the country. They hate our freedom. They hate democracy

There's honestly been some pretty good news coverage tonight on TV regarding today's events. It's not a coincidence.

Like half a dozen prominent Democrats finally came out this afternoon and said ICE is terrorist trash led by a secretary who should be impeached and it flipped the whole narrative.

Right. The point is not “it matters extra because it’s a citizen,” the point is “we either hang together or we will all hang separately.”
i think it is ok to reiterate that the victim as a us citizen. yes, noncitizens are equally entitled to human rights. but also, it's important to illustrate how ice isn't about immigration at all

Hell yeah. If you have a Dem rep or senator who isn’t saying this, ask them why not. Dems are in the minority but Repubs will need Dem votes for a new funding bill at the end of the month. Schumer won’t lead, but he will follow with sufficient pressure from his caucus.
The Trump Admin continues to lie about ICE's killing of a 37-year-old mom — claiming she engaged in ‘domestic terrorism.”

They have given ICE a massive budget and allowed them to act with impunity.

I cannot & will NOT support any funding for Trump’s ICE’s operations.

The administration is launching multiple offensive fronts abroad while Americans are murdered in broad daylight by the secret police.

They are not the most competent fascists.

They can’t fight all fronts effectively.

Do not be scared.

Future generations are counting on us.

this is something that individual members of Congress could do tomorrow. The government is shut down so they could use their district offices. I suggested in January that they turn those offices into full on community centers where people could find each other re: mutual aid etc...
If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation.

Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net

but this buries the lede.

ICE shot multiple people including a witness filming them attempt to abduct someone

AND all of this happened outside of a school
FEDERAL AGENTS OPEN FIRE OUTSIDE SCHOOL:

This morning at 8:52 AM federal agents shot an on-looker during kidnapping operation in Los Angeles. A US Marshal was also shot. LAPD is on scene assisting and protecting the Feds.

The corruption of the US Supreme Court has arguably been the most serious single contributor to the US's transformation into autocracy

Occurs to me that Trump's entire regime consolidation strategy is to persuade everyone through displays of force that the regime is already consolidated and there's no point in resisting. Which I don't think will work, but also shows how important public acts of noncompliance are.

Even if you assume the legitimacy of ICE operations, the idea that a fucking truck-mounted machine gun is necessary to carry them out is insane.

This is about intimidation. This is them letting us know that the streets of the United States have been militarized.

LAPD and LASD will continue to crack people’s skulls open and blow off fingers because the $100 million plus that it’ll cost the city is nothing compared to giving in to protesters demands. With their misconduct built into the budget, there is no accountability for their violence.

This is something the Democratic Party has been trying and failing to figure out how to respond to for a very long time. At what point do you realize you're past the point of noting how hypocritical something is or how the administration is violating some law or norm when your opponent does not care
The Trump White House's entire thing is thumbing its nose at accountability. They want to accelerate the collapse of democratic systems, and undermining systems of accountability is part of that, something the Democrats need to start facing up to.

not the main issue here but i'd really appreciate it if democratic politicians spoke out in support of big-city life and culture with the same energy and reverence that all politicians have for small towns

los angeles is "real america" and so are all the other big cities the president hates
