No bailouts. The US should extort these companies when the crash happens so they get minimal compensation in return for nationalizing the entire panopticon industry and then destroying it once harvested for socially useful parts. It won’t happen but it should
when its definitely not a hostage situation

no, the truth is that without the filibuster centrist collaborationist Democrats and their Republican co-conspirators would have no weapon to stop Medicare for All. no weapon to stop taxing billionaires. this is why they want to keep it. they need it, their corporate capitalist handlers require it.

i mean c’mon. the president’s best friend was the most notorious pedo in the country’s history who ran a massive child trafficking ring. every bit of circumstantial evidence we have says that trump was a participant. if this were a criminal trial we’d have enough evidence to compel a plea deal.

the right-wing democrat motto might as well be, "if you promise nothing, you don't have to deliver anything"
Abigail Spanberger takes a swipe at Mamdani, saying "maybe he should be a Democrat" and that his campaign promises are dishonest.

EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

shame.

The U.S. government has become a neofascist regime run by a sociopath.

Keeping it funded now is to participate in the most atrocious abuse of power in U.S. history.

So I for one have decided that the best route is to shut the whole thing down.

and by the way, the guy they're letting blithely get away with this absolute scandal is also the guy who, just to take one example, just permanently slashed taxes on the wealthy and paid for it with historic cuts to health care and a staggering national sales taxes on coffee and everything else
you really have to step back and admire it: they just released a winking SIGNED love note from the sitting US president to the most notorious pedophile sex trafficker in history, and nothing much is happening

the solipsism of “these guys are nice to me, personally, so they cannot be that bad” is i think the root cause of so many of the elected dems’ problems

“They ended my ability to even apply to med school. Everything I worked for is gone.”

Trump’s cuts are slamming doors on future doctors—forcing students out of medicine and into debt they can’t escape. Only rich white people will be able to attend med school. #ClassroomsNotCuts

Colbert will be all right, maybe even better off. The world's his oyster and I'm sure MSNBC and Netflix will come calling. He could stand up the biggest late night YouTube channel in days. But they are just torching the Late Show, an institution, solely to appease a dictator. And that fucking sucks.

I actually don't think she should be able to have a moments rest until she explains why Andrew Cuomo is fine but Al Franken is not. Like someone should follow her around with a bullhorn screaming the question at her.
Kirsten Gillibrand on WNYC won’t endorse Mamdani. Said she doesn’t endorse NYC mayoral races (she endorsed Adams in 2021), and is waiting to see who runs on what line. What a fucking disgrace.

All those Dems who endorsed Cuomo now need to quickly endorse Mamdani. Gillibrand, Clinton, Ritchie Torres, everyone else - you're not going to back away from the general election just because your guy lost the primary right? Let's see that commitment of support ASAP. Thanks!

honestly does seem like the basic dynamic in american politics right now is that a critical number of voters treat Democrats like their (nagging) mom or their (bitch) wife and treat Republicans like the “cool” dad or husband who is at best a deadbeat

We have a madman in the White House who is actively trying to trigger total war.

If Jeffries, Schumer, or any other Democratic leaders try to justify this, shrug indifferently, or write a strongly-worded letter and call it a day, they need to step down or be aggressively primaried.

What were they actually gonna do here? Ask every brown-enough person for their papers to go to the fucking baseball game?

This is the most slam-dunk, anti-American thing I can think of. You need a passport to go to a Major League Baseball game now? Malpractice not to make a huge deal out of this.
LA DODGERS just now:

“This morning, ICE agents came to Dodger Stadium and requested permission to access the parking lots. They were denied entry to the grounds by the organization. Tonight’s game will be played as scheduled.”

Right on, Dodgers!
More of this, please.

the criticism that Dems put forth old and ailing politicians to their detriment is unquestionably true, but there’s a large contingent of the party dedicated to calling you a heartless scumbag if you point it out
Three democratic members of congress who were sworn in this January have died in the first four-plus months of the session.
The family of Dem Rep. Gerry Connolly announced that he has died at 75. Connolly had been fighting cancer.

I understand the argument that the impeachment vote in the House is symbolic and thus potentially a "waste of time" but the people who make that argument never explain, and once again in this case have not explained, what *more valuable thing* they need to do with the time instead.

Democratic insiders are using the vote kerfuffle to paint David Hogg as an attention-seeking malcontent.

For years, these people have been happy to hold him up—a school shooting survivor—as the future of the party.

But now the knives are out bc he broke the cardinal rule by criticizing the party.

2026 is the last chance to remove Congressional Democrats who want to acquiesce to the destruction of Constitutional democracy—and replace them with Democrats who think it's important to stand up for rights and rule of law—ahead of 2028, when there's serious risk the election is not free and fair.
Stephen Lynch, aiming to be top Dem on the Oversight Cmte, blew up at a constituent who asked him to oppose the GOP.

This is the exact message Democrats should be embracing. Throw the bums out and be a party that stands up and fights
Pritzker: The reckoning is here. And now that this culture of timidity is on display, these same do-nothing Democrats want to blame our losses on the defense of Black people, trans kids, and immigrants, instead of on their own lack of guts and gumption.
