It's probably time to start reconsidering strikes.

If you work in a field related to infrastructure or healthcare or agriculture or city management, then you should talk to your coworkers about arranging strikes.

If you need to convince your coworkers, try these points. ⬇️

Popping in for a minute to say that it really sucks that the murder bill passed Congress and ALSO to thank every single person who tried to stop the bill from passing. What you did matters. Finally, I wrote a few words: open.substack.com/pub/prisoncu... - I hope they might offer some encouragement.
People are in motion, everywhere.
Some thoughts on discouragement and also on noticing…

1. Trump's megabill will slash nutrition assistance for poor families, cause 17 million people to lose their health insurance, and add over $3 trillion to the deficit -- all to finance tax cuts for the rich.

IN THIS THREAD, I WILL LIST THE COMPANIES THAT PUBLICLY SUPPORTED THIS BILL.

To everyone asking “what do you expect Democrats to DO??” well to start they could take the extremely easy step of not doing this.
By a vote of 61-35, the #Senate confirmed Daniel Zimmerman to be an Assistant Secretary of Defense.

Dems/Independent Senators Fetterman, Hassan, Kaine, Kelly, King, Reed, Rosen, Slotkin, and Warnock voted in favor.

Sens. Banks, Coons, Gallego, and Shaheen did not vote.

The fact that rank and file Democrats have shown more fight in opposing someone like Mamdani than Trump or obvious authoritarianism should tell you everything you need to know.

The Left is what they consider a threat because its ascendency would endanger their true base: the wealth class.

Or anyone the government says are migrants on no evidence other than their say-so
Today the GOP justices on the Supreme Court endorsed migrants being sold into slavery.

They'll claim otherwise, but that's the reality — today's decision permits Trump to send people from countries around the world to any global hellhole that accepts a U.S. financial incentive.

This is why we must defend the right to teach outside the textbook.

We offer free lessons on U.S. wars in Vietnam & Iraq. Anti-history (anti-CRT) ed laws & anti-DEI exec orders aim to criminalize teachers who use those lessons to help students read critically & apply lessons from history to today.
The American people were lied to about Vietnam, with tragic consequences.

The American people are being lied to again today. We cannot allow history to repeat itself.

Everything about this is farce.

Iran wasn’t near creating a weapon.

The administration committed a crime and is trying to avoid consequences and war using pitifully transparent word games.

Our media is clicking its heels and producing jingoistic war porn and trying to legitimize Netanyahu.

Farce

This is an absolutely disgraceful act of corruption by both major parties. It will lead to an incredibly foreseeable set of disasters: best case, unlimited corruption and scamming, worst case a global financial crisis and inevitable federal bailout.

Horrifying that 18 Democrats voted for it.

@prisonculture.bsky.social and I have been encouraging people to read chapter six of our book, Let This Radicalize You, which deals with the question of "violence" in social movements. We have decided to share the chapter publicly, to offer some context and grounding for the current conversation.

I would love to see orders of magnitude more discussion about what "swing voters" should figure out, deal with, suck up, get a clue about, etc and orders of magnitude less discussion about how protestors should coddle random third party's hallucinations about this section of the electorate

I am begging people to recognize that authoritarians are not blackmailing every politician and institution that capitulates or collaborates.

Sometimes they’re simply fine with going along with a brutal and dehumanizing project. And realizing that frees you up to find actual allies.

The problem with authoritarians isn’t their messy personal lives, it’s that they hurt and kill people and work to make the world worse.

This current fixation on palace intrigue is driven by capitalist tabloid culture and diverts us from resistance.

Research should be surprising, thought-provoking, (re-)discovering new literatures and subcommunities.
