Remarkable the magazine managed to last another 20 years, really.
The same issue also had a piece on “the last 15 left-wing people in Britain”. Not too sure what was going on at Q then.

I think about 99% of Zack Polanski's appeal is that he comes across as someone who would say "oh for fuck's sake" in public and not feel the need to issue a grovelling apology.

Just looking at the Mojo EoY albums list; expected win for Guy Mitchell but who'd have thought Alma Cogan and Ted Heath would have given him such a close run?

Slowdive, Stereolab and Suede: hold our teabags
A depressing thing about contemporary culture is that back in the 90s you had loads of 60s/70s acts making big critically acclaimed returns: Bowie, Dylan, Nelson, Young, Emmylou Harris. And yet you struggle to think of any 90s acts doing the same today.

COMMENTARIAT: Streeting is statemanlike, a man of the people. He has really impressed me today.

STREETING: If anything, nurses get paid too much! They're like a Mexican cartel!

All of them? That'll be New York-born Joris Bohnson heading for the gallows, then.
He's now claiming he didn't, but Rupert Lowe absolutely did call for a death penalty for foreigners referendum at PMQs today.

Warms the cockles innit.

What an absolute parcel.

Good comparison piece in current Private Eye apropos Robin Day's Question Time vs Fiona Bruce's Question Time. Then: comparatively mild but charming witticisms, much laughter, applause and sense of community. Now: endless misery and nitpicking, no laughter, scant applause. That's where the BBC went.

It's already gone. It's been gone for some time.
You'll miss the BBC when it's gone...

A mere request; please can everybody stop "posting" stupid pictures of people from the past because (a) they're not funny; (b) this shouldn't be the British F*cking Legion forever droning on about the past because you're frightened of dying. Move on or unfollow/block me. Thanks.

Exactly. Johnson proved what happens when a journalist is allowed to run the country. We've had enough of Britain being misgoverned by media types who are allowed to come to power just because the Guardian likes them.
This man won one of the largest majorities in UK electoral history, is a white guy who was a prosecutor and prior to the election was beloved by basically all sections of the press. The fact he's been unable to use any of this to achieve anything is incredible.

What "kids" actually want. Good for you. Don't make a mess of things the way my generation did.
Support for Labour among young people has collapsed in recent months, exclusive polling for ITV News and ITV Peston programme has found, while backing for the #GreenParty from 18 to 25 year olds has doubled

"kids, what are they?" (all Times readers)
And today it's the turn of The Times to try and patronise us all.

Every single day the right wing establishment tries to close ranks.

And every day we are growing.

And it's deliberate. Don't know why she didn't do it with Florence but it's a definite tendency now and I'm sick of it, and her sulky zillionaire girl child who never learned to grow up and share act.
I suspect Taylor has issued another variant of her underwhelming album otherwise Rosalia would currently be midweek Number 1

Twin Peaks started off really good but once it got to the Bookhouse Boys bit it nosed sharply downhill. Should have been 7 episodes tops. Also it's half a lifetime ago now & other television progs have happened since. In 1990 nobody at work gave a toss, they were all watching Darling Buds of May.
