I have two - TWO - of these gorgeous original A4 meadow hare linoprints by my mum, Jo, to give away to a couple of lucky people here on Bluesky today.

Rules are simple: to be in with a chance to win, you just have to repost this piece I wrote about Jo and her art: www.tom-cox.com/the-magic-ro...

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

I regularly walk a wood edge footpath and follow the life of the wildflowers. Heartbroken today to find them wilting from the effect of glyphosate blowoff from the adjacent wheat field.

Looking at dying “food” soon to be harvested; every extra penny of my budget spent on organic flour is worth it

Had a grand plan to sell the set of old Potter books and donate the proceeds to Good Law Project. Turns out they’re effectively worthless. Can’t decide whether to be sad about this or in fact quite satisfied

Excellent PQ by @alexsobel.co.uk revealing DEFRA is developing a Cross-Government Nature Strategy, including mapping 'natural assets' across all govt-owned land - & that it may publish this on MAGIC Map in future. Public land is vital to meet 30x30

Rewilding isn't just great for the planet. It's great for the *soul*.

I’ve never been happier to have had so many flies splatted on my windscreen this week, like they used to in the 80s. And to see a Spotted Flycatcher in my garden for the first time! Win win!

Now listening to Pink Floyd at Pompeii, released in full yesterday. The 2025 production is so impressive. I don’t know many of the tracks well, cos it’s the early stuff, but I’m likely to be very familiar very soon !

I love the little surprises the NYT games app throws up about linguistics differences. They don’t recognise the word pelmet! I love the idea that the pilgrim fathers decided to leave pelmets in the Old World. None of that fancy frippery thank you very much!

Here's a crazy idea: I've decided to give away 300 (300!) signed books on Bluesky today. Who knows if this will work but let's see, shall we? Be in the first 300 to reply to this & you can have one.(Limiting the offer to UK but happy to send overseas if people cover the postage.)

There are over 18,000 types of lichen in existence. My personal favourite is ‘village bench lichen’, which devotes its entire existence selflessly to gradually making communal public seating more furry and comfortable.
