There is no “healthy basket bill” that will track people’s shopping habits through their loyalty cards.

This is another fake government policy that has fooled some people on social media.

The government is not going to track people’s shopping and fine them for buying unhealthy food – Full Fact
A series of social media videos falsely claim the government has introduced a “healthy basket bill” to monitor people’s food shopping.

Journalism is basically a hobby for nepo babies with intergenerational wealth at this point.
The WSJ used the words "anti woke crusader" in the second graf of an article to describe the new EIC of CBS News. A job that used to be important and serious has become a punchline. We have no real newspapers. Just a bunch of losers sucking each other off in a circle
"The hiring of a former opinion journalist with strong views on Israel and diversity, equity and inclusion"

get out of journalism, you're all fucking useless

It’s widely known (and, I think, pretty uncontroversial) that learning requires effort — specifically, if you don’t have to work at getting the knowledge, it won’t stick.

Even if an LLM could be trusted to give you correct information 100% of the time, it would be an inferior method of learning it.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

my job mostly involves googling science things all day, and it's been terrible to see how much worse that's become over the last few years. but not being able to trust government websites for basic science information really takes things to a new low

NVIDIA said on earnings that they are working on "strategic relationship" with OpenAI, which uh, doesn't sound like funding to me
So per NVIDIA's earnings, it appears that NVIDIA has *agreed* to invest in Anthropic, but its investment in OpenAI is a "letter of intent with an opportunity to invest." Very strange!

not the main point but it should be illegal to interview someone more than 3 times for the same position
3 years ago today, Riot Games offered me a job making more money than I ever thought I’d make in my life. I had 19 interviews over 2.5 months to get it. Partner and I were moving to LA for it. I put in notice at my job and apartment.

2 weeks later they rescinded the offer due to “headcount issues”.

One of the reasons these people are trying to womanize 15-year-olds is so they can marry them and train them (raise them) to be the submissive wives they want. Some of these folk voted against ending child marriage for that very reason.

SCOTUS leaning into a bold new understanding of “equity" by allowing the alleged irreparable harm to be done while the underlying dispute is still being litigated. But seemingly only doing so when it benefits conservatives. Huh!

This is why I don't like AI use for ANY reason, even if it's just to dunk on AI. Any use takes up resources and energy that could be better used doing literally anything else. Any "good potential use" for AI is annihilated by how much energy it takes to make it. Throw it in the trash, it's no good!
A regular reminder that using Grok is actively poisoning my former home of Memphis, Tennessee, a relatively poor and majority Black major city in the American South. Allowing the DoD to use it will escalate this dramatically.

If you listen to the actual audio, it's very clear that she didn't misspeak. She was told she was wrong, but she refused to listen and continued to double and triple down.

The least she can do is apologize and endorse the Democratic nominee even though he's Muslim. Whether she will is unclear.

to be entirely fair up until today it seemed pretty likely mamdani would lose to a corrupt sex pest. things can change for the better.
Its worth noting that in Britain, Mamdani would have thrown out of the Labour Party by a small room full LinkIn weirdos and then replaced by a former private healthcare lobbyist who would go on to lose by 5,000 votes to a Reform candidate who was a convinced sex offender.
