Even Serena Williams had to fight to get the care she needed. If one of the greatest athletes of all time is dismissed by healthcare workers, you can imagine how other Black women get treated. I’m glad this video is getting traction. And I’m left wondering what it will take to make real change.
This video of a pregnant Black woman in labor being actively ignored by a triage nurse has made the rounds. The lack of empathy on display is a reality every Black woman has experienced in some form when dealing w the healthcare system. Nothing shields us from it.
