My friend has finally received her portrait of the wonderful Katie. So here she is. I hope I did her justice as she was the best of cats 🐈

@helenbarrett.bsky.social is quite right about the dire situation for art history in UK schools; but one glimmer of hope lies in the excellent work of www.arthistorylinkup.org, a charity well worth supporting

Freddie Mercury didn't go into the studio and nail the vocals for "The Show Must Go On" in one take while dying of AIDS for you to despair and give up now. Take the time you need, but then get up and get back out there.

The show must go on.

OSCAR ISAAC, on whether he'd return to "Star Wars":

".. Yeah. I mean, I’d be open to it, although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney. But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great."

Absolutely typical that a nearby greenway has multiple signs regarding dog fouling but not one bin along the route to put waste into. And I’m not even talking about dog waste bins but *any* kind of bin

Ireland in a nutshell
Hello it's me the leader of the party full of landlords that has been in power your whole adult life and created the housing crisis we now refuse to resolve.

I'm here to tell you it's actually the foreigners' fault.

Ok there Frasier, calm down
Took my Dad for a meal, and the waiter showed me some of his art. I was polite about it, so my Dad bought one of his paintings for me as a gift. I hate it, but I have to keep it up so as not to hurt his feelings.

Make no mistake, this excavation wouldn’t be happening if Catherine Corless hadn’t stuck her neck out and defied people telling her to leave it alone.

But the scale of this is unimaginable. It’s not just M&B homes, it’s laundries, it’s industrial schools, it’s giant psych hospitals.

Rosalind Franklin was born #OTD in 1920. Her X-ray diffraction work was critical for establishing the helical nature of DNA. 👩‍🔬 🧪

Work carried out by Franklin (with doctoral student Raymond Gosling) was given to Watson and Crick without her consent.

And the reason it took 16 months was being MASSIVELY outbid by people looking for their 4th or 5th property. The system is fucked. And it has NOTHING to do with asylum seekers. To even suggest that, is a reprehensible, dangerous lie. I am so angry about this. How dare they.

79% of homes sold in Dublin this year were bought by landlords, 75% by large landlords. About 1 in 5 TDs are landlords.

This is disgusting dog whistling. The problem has never been people seeking asylum. The problem is people seeking to endlessly profit from folks just looking for a home.
🗣️ "The one thing that there is a problem with is housing right across the state, and the more that come to seek asylum, the more pressure it puts on that system.” - Fianna Fáil Minister of State Timmy Dooley

THE REASON THERE WERE A LOT OF SPOILED VOTES IS BECAUSE THERE WAS A CONCERTED ORGANISED CAMPAIGN BY BAD ACTORS TO PERSUADE PEOPLE TO…

SPOIL THEIR FUCKING VOTES

It wasn’t organic! Now shut up and stop being enragingly thick
